A nice little park, next to a world famous cemetery. Don't be scared as it's only a cemetery and you can barely see it!
This is actually a very nice park and while it's not the largest park, it's really beautiful and they really keep the place in tip top shape. It's great for a stroll and you really will enjoy the sites.
It seemed like it was mostly moms/nannies with their kids, but that's to be expected early in the day. It was a refreshing stroll on my way to Karl Marx's grave.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - 19 Nov 2009
A few weeks ago I joined my friends for a walk in Waterlow Park with their dalmatian whippet mix pup, MoMo. Fall was quickly turning to winter and autumn hued leaves were all around.
While it was too cold for a picnic on this visit, I definitely want to come back for one in the spring.
Located near on a hillside near the posh Highgate Village, views of London from this park are very pretty. An ideal place to bring a kid, a dog or a person you fancy.Helpful 11Thanks 0Love this 11Oh no 0 - 27 Mar 2010
As a passionate and dutiful dog owner, a trip to Waterlow Park is on my daily to-do list. It's such a lovely park, with loads of old trees, spacious meadows...and best of all, it's all so well-maintained. In fact, the other day we had visitors from South London and they were in awe by how luscious and well-kept this park was...apparently quite a difference to some of the more plain commons.
What's also nice about this park is the fact that you have amazing views over the City (on clear days, that is). A good time to come here is around lunch-time, sit on one if the many benches and soak in the beauties surrounding you...
The only thing that I would like to change, is the rubbish bins. The thing with them is...they don't have a lid or a cover, which invites the non-human inhabitants of this lovely park (aka squirrels, foxes & crows) to rummage through the bins in the search for edible left-overs. While doing that, they have no shame in littering the floor with tissues, coffee cups and wrapping paper. My concern is not so much the appeal of this, but I'm more concerned about my dog, who namely thinks that this rubbish is the most tasty thing in the world!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Thomas M.Offenbach am Main, Germany29578506523 Aug 2018
In the 1600s the rich and famous in London disovered Highgate as an area to build their homes and gardens, and part of those have developed into what Waterlow Park is today. Lauderdale House, which remains within the park, was the home of the notorious Earl (later Duke) of Lauderdale in the 17th century.. Waterlow covers 46 acres of gardens, and it's a quiet oasis where one can relax from the 24/7 hustle & bustle of central London. Make sure to visit the adjacent Highgate Cemetery, too!

I have to join the praise for this wonderful park.
It's a beautiful green oasis in the middle of Highgate, right next to Highgate cemetery (which is definitely worth a visit too - see my separate review for it).
The park is very well maintained and very clean, and thus an ideal spot for a picnic, lazy nap on a sunny afternoon, or a walk with a pet. I especially enjoy the pond in the middle of the park - it's such a relaxing spot to stop by and watch the ducks just frolic.
Every time I went so far, I found sufficient amount of benches everywhere, so if you didn't want to sit in the grass, you could still comfortably lounge surrounded by greenery.
This is the kind of place that gives a neighborhood it's character - what a fantastic addition to Archway and Highgate. Definitely check it out.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jessie W.Teddington, London10953815 Sept 2015
A little peace of heaven located in the heart of a busy city.
Waterlow's park is somewhere you'd go to escape from the daily rushing routine and just relax in the nature. The place has a large rage of activities you can do here, despite the weather. This is the ideal spot for puppies to play and walk around without worrying about passing cars or other dangers.
The park is quite big and you'll notice something new any time you walk around. You can go picnic or throw some cool event outdoors.
The fun doesn't stop at the winter. You need too see how cool this Weterlow's park gets when the snow falls.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - George C.London9820617710 Aug 2017

Gorgeous, well-maintained neighborhood park. I've spent many a sunny day here napping, reading, eating, and just passing the time.
Plenty of benches and bins so I can bring food and not worry about where to toss it; lots of trees to sit against and do some reading. In a great area, too, so I can always run out and grab food or buy a book or something to take back into the park with me.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jane T.Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire241521338916 Mar 2009First to Review
A really lovely, large, park, and very peaceful too - yet so close to the main road! I visited for the first time on Saturday and it was every bit as lovely as I'd been told. There are beautiful trees everywhere and well kept beds full of flowers. The lakes and wild fowl are so nice to see and there are plenty of places for childen to play too. Some great (though distant) views over London as well from the top. Lauderdale House was a good place to stop for coffee (latte in a mug was £2). There are picnic tables outside or you can sit inside. It's self service at a small counter just inside the door. The toilets are inside to the left, just two cubicles and a step into each (there's a step going into the building as well). Clean, with soap, hand driers, mirrors and hot water.

A hidden gem! Probably because it's so close to Highgate Cemetery nobody bothers to mention this great park right next to it. There are lots of benches, green space to spread out; a hilly terrain, lovely ponds and a poplar (right tree species?) define the landscape.
Everything you'd need on a day out is there, including clean, free toilets and a lovely tiny café in Lauderdale House serving cold and hot drinks and a small variety of cakes and ice cream. You can either grab a seat outside or in the neatly decorated room next to the reception.
Worth a visit especially if you're around the area or fancy a break after having visited Highgate Cemetery.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
