Whenever I've been in the Russian Bar it's been quite late at night and it's always really busy. It's an underground bar on Kingsland Road by the canal owned by surprise surprise Russians.
It's a good place to come for a late night dance and a drink.
Friends of mine booked the space out last year for an art and music night they put on here which proved to be quite successful.

Located few minutes far from Old Street, in the middle of Shoreditch, along the Kingsland Road, this underground bar and club is split in 2 levels: upstairs there is a bar where they serve normal drinks; downstairs a big space, that can host party, is the dance floor for deep house and dirty electro beats lovers.

But if your a young specimen you might feel like a babay compared to the oldies in there well 30+ is not old but it's not an age you should be shaking legs to Bassline at is it really?

So I thought this was just called the Russian Bar as some sort of communist-as-trendy sort of hammer and sickle-wearing hipster thing. Turns out the place is actually crawling with Russians!

This is really the only downfall of the place, to be honest, because when I've been there there have been a lot of guys there who aren't interested in the music or whatever night is on, but rather, are just there for the Russian vibe.

There's a lot of "Lina, that beautiful name. Is Russian, no?" going on in the place.

Hit up the Dream Machine night, it's fab. The double dancefloor action is also a nice feature. Watch out though, the drinks seem to get weaker as the night wears on due to crafty bartendership.

Oh, and I forgot to add--downstairs they have stripper poles. Yes, stripper poles.

Reasonable selection of drinks, plenty of space to dance and an ability to be open later than anywhere else in the area make this a post-midnight favourite.

In all likelihood they'll be banging out house and techno from the decks at the back of the room, but they do also host dubstep and more "traditional" music events from time to time.

Dark and dingy? Yes. No frills and fun? YES!

The Russian Bar is pretty basic - it's essentially a long room with a bar and a few sofas. There's a dancefloor at the far end with a DJ booth and stairs down to a smaller room/dancefloor and the toilets.

The bar isn't flashy, but it does serve drinks and if you've found yourself in here, chances are that's all you're after - another drink and music to dance to. It doesn't fail.

If you've ended up in here, it's pretty safe to say that you're having a very very messy night indeed. I'm therefore not responsible if you wind up here and say things you shouldn't, do things you shouldn't and fall over.

Because you're evening is going to be a train wreck from here on out. In the best way possible.

I found myself in here at three in the morning on Thursday (well, Friday morning I guess) and considering I live in Greenwich, Dalston is a bit out of my way. We're not in Kansas any more, Toto.

This bar will be here UNTIL THE END OF TIME. I don't think it actually closes. It just stay open to pick up waifs and strays who don't know when enough is enough. I should have gone home at midnight. It's not a wonderfully pretty place, bit rough looking actually. Comfy sofas though.

Instead, pear cider was drunk, shots were drunk, beer was drunk. Everything was drunk. The crowd? A mix of actual Russians (who were all big and scary), a few stragglers from Hoxton, and on this occasion, a rather bemused bunch of media geeks.

I didn't get home until 8am. What an awesome, strange little place. I'd never plan to come here, but I like the occasional bit of mischief and if you end up here, you're in for a great night.

This place is a complete hole...a hole that is pretty much perpetually open and a glorious fail safe for that tumbleweed moment where you're kicked out onto the street at 3am with nowhere to go and need another drink (I'm not an alcoholic).

I couldn't tell you what the regular nights are or what the usual music is and though sleazy, grimy, with a weird mix of people and just generally dirty it has been the full stop to a couple of really good, if messy, nights out.

The Russian Bar is one of the most closely guarded secrets of the Dalston connection. So secret in fact, that you'll sometimes need a password to get in.

Known for it's late late nights, you'll find all kind of night owls here. 'The' place to go when there is nowhere else to go. When everything else is shut and all you want to do is party.

You'll find probably the strangest mix of people you're likely to find in London. It shouldn't work but it does, it's seedy and grimy, and altogether so much fun.

There's a bar upstairs and a sweat pit they like to call a dancefloor downstairs. Not for the faint hearted.

formerly known as A10, but usually called the Russian Bar, the Russian Pub, or that Russian Place, but now formally changed to The Russian Bar after a recent re-launch, the Russian Bar is ace! The staff are friendly, the beer is inexpensive (around 3 quid for a massive 500 cl bottle of one of the various kinds of deadly Russian beer that this place is famed for), the soundsystem is both loud and good quality, the rotation of dj's are cool as anything (often playing techno, tech house, electro, but it varies ALOT), and the Clientelethe clientele are something else - here you get shoreditch trendies, leftover cityboys, dalston weirdos, boystand Gays, Moutachio'd Russian sailor types, local whores, tourists wondering WHAT on earth is going onit's a pretty wild mix, and i've pretty much always had fun here, even when the techno gets a bit too banging and you can't have a proper conversation. Plus they are famous for their lock-ins! YESSSSSSS!!!

The Russian Bar is always a great place to while away a few hour and indulge in some post work cocktails. It's a bit on the pricey side but it's worth paying the extra the beautiful people you'll see hanging around here. The clientèle is usually convivial and friendly.
