The Dulwich Wood House is set in a lovely area. It has a big outside area for when the wether's nice with a water feature and lots of space for the kids to run around. On a Sunday it is a great family friendly place for lunch and they serve enormous portions of beef, pork or chicken roast. They offer a children's menu along with having high chairs for the young ones. The waiter who served us was very attentive, friendly and helpful. At first glance this place looks great. On a small mound in Clissold park with pretty views and lovely columns what could go wrong. Well, the service mainly, our server didn't really speak English and couldn't explain to us what was in certain dishes. I just went for the toastie. It was fine but the place has the feel of a museum cafe which isn't really very good considering we were not visiting a museum and I instantly regretted coming here instead of one of the many delicious cafes along Church Street.
It's outdoor seating is, however, a bonus and the one reason I would come back.…Read more
The Cat and Mutton was getting a bit tired. Always crowded with an upstairs area that seemed like an afterthought and declining standards in food meant we were not the regulars we once were. And then, last winter, it closed.
Earlier this year the Cat and Mutton rose again like a Phoenix from the ashes with a redesigned layout, toilets moved to the basement and a cocktail bar installed upstairs.
