I went to the City Merchant yesterday as part of my team at work's Christmas Lunch. They were able to accommodate 35 folks on one long table... which was really nice.
I had a smoked chicken cesar salad to start with... which was just right - a nice balance of creamy, crunchy, fishy & er... chickeny. It was lovely.
My main was a traditional Christmas turkey... with all the trimmings. Again, lovely.
I finished with an individual Christmas pudding and a black coffee.
My only criticism of the food was the size of the portions... but then I like my grub. I easily could have eaten more but was satisfied with what I got.
A big plus for me is that they serve Cobra Zero non-alcoholic beer... which means I can join in but without the alcohol.
All in... nice! Its a fab wee place... very accommodating staff... nice ambience.
Will go back with Olly.

Very pleasant American/Mexican diner.
Nice ambience albeit the tunes were modern-day and didn't necessarily fit with the decor.
Staff were very attentive and had a sense of humour.
The jalapeno burger is awesome!
As Arnie said in Terminator... "I'll be back!"

This is my fave Starbucks... nestled snuggly on the first floor of Borders on Buchanan St, Glasgow;
Staff are excellent - friendly, pleasant, helpful & engaging.
Ambience is fab... ideal if you like to watch people mill about... but just as good if you want some time out on your own.
Its where I go at lunchtimes... fab
PLEASE NOTE: Due to Borders closing... this Starbucks is alas no more. Gone but not forgotten!

We (my wife, 2 kids and myself) went there because China Buffet King was too busy and, to be honest, overpriced. My wife fancied something Asian and Fujimama seemed a good bet.
The ambience was lovely... noodle bar tables and benches... but individualised for a more intimate experience.
The food too was lovely. I had a plate of really tasty Singaporean Fried Noodles. My wife had Kung Po chicken without nuts... which was easily catered for. My older daughter had sweet & sour chicken (which she finished) and my younger daughter (the fussy one) had a chicken burger with salad and chips.
Our portions were generous... the food was well presented and was enjoyed by all... even the fussy one.
What let fujimama down and the reason why they never got 5 stars was their service was so sloooooooow! We waited 30 mins between getting seated, ordering and then receiving our food.
At one point (before our order had been taken) we considered leaving and going to Nando's.
Their service was also inconsistent... folks seated after us ordered before us and received their food before us. That's not on, if you ask me.
I appreciate it was busy... with it being in Chrimbo Limbo... but that's no excuse.
To their credit... the service were very friendly.
I will go back... but not on a day as busy as today.
