Went for a late night dinner to celebrate a birthday and I must say that I've never been so impressed before! This is definitely one of my finest dining experiences. I made a reservation and had to postpone and alter it a couple times and the staff at Secret Location could not have been anymore accommodating. The dining environment was so beautiful. You feel like you've stepped into an upscale, metropolitan lounge designed by the most fashionable celebrity stylist. The music was perfect for the setting. The food was amazing. We had and highly recommend the sablefish and boar-shanks. The staff and management were so attentive, accommodating, respectful, knowledgable and amazingly friendly. Golden rule is you get what you pay for. Secret Location goes beyond the statement, goes beyond the standard and sets the bar for having....simply an amazing night. Words fail to describe our perfect night. Thank you so much Secret Location. @slocation

I used to go here every week. I'm a huge fan of dim sum (yum cha). Although I've been to many different dim sum restaurants from all over the place, I've gotta say that this is one type of restaurant that I haven't yet discovered or set a standard for. So rather than pros and cons it'll be easier for me to just list point form my general experience for a typical visit.
-the parking lot can hold 7-10 cars max in an awkwardly tight space
-some street meter parking could be found
-restaurant located in an area that is split between popular spots like the museum, RRC and a pretty rough residential area
-you'll be seated quite quickly *unless its happy hour*
-given a menu/checklist, pencil & asked if you'd like a drink *unless its happy hour*
-once checklist is filled out they will take it and promptly serve your food
      -the food is always excellent
-it's generally quiet *unless its happy hour*
-the service is always quite prompt *unless its happy hour*
-prices are ok nothing outlandish *unless its happy hour*
OK so 'happy hour' happens twice a day here. It's a time of day when dimsum is approximately half price so its insanely cheaper. On the flip side its harder to find parking, a much longer wait in line to get seated, longer wait for food and much louder.

That being said, the food is definitely tasty enough to warrant going whether its happy hour or not.

I've been to alot of Boston Pizzas and I've found that they pretty much have a specific profile for service, food and staffing. This isn't a bad thing. It means that its easy to create a standard and measure against that standard. So that being said, I've found that you'll pretty much get the same service and food regardless of which BP you go to (but of course there is always the exception to the rule). This one in particular definitely meets my standards for BP!
      Pros:
-The food was pretty good. This ain't you're moms homestyle pasta but this ain't a 'Mc'fettuccine. I suggest ordering a pizza. You'll find some great unique ones BP that you can't get anywhere else like the Perogie Pizza.
-A well balanced noise level for conversation... The combination of ambient music and guests talking is quiet enough to hold your own conversation yet loud enough to take the edge off of awkward silent moments if its a first date lol.
-Cleanliness...This place has found a comfortable place in between sterile and warm and broken in...You know what I mean. There's the bleak sterility of a hospital cafeteria and the dirty rustic feel of a western saloon. So BP has nice clean washrooms and cutlery etc etc and also has broken in seats with cracked vinyl and worn in carpets.
-General Establishment vibe. The bar has laughter, music and a great feeling of an everyday persons watering hole. The restaurant side had families and couples enjoying the night out, enjoying what they were eating and where they were eating it.
      Cons:
-Parking is not exactly an issue if you know where to do it. I suggest parking in the lot next to Save-On Foods as its near by and theres a high volume of walking traffic close by. The parking out front tends to fill fast in the late evenings.
-The location is convenient in the sense that theres a lot of other malls and movie theatres and such to attract business from. But that can also be the problem as you'll be surrounded by many other dining options.

So give BP a look up folks. In my books, it's worth it.

If you've checked out some of my previous reviews than you'll know that I love food and I love cooking so obviously doing groceries is tied quite tightly to this. Superstore is a good place to check out for deals and especially for just massive selection. Although I do like doing some groceries at Superstore, this store in particular doesn't really float my boat. The selection is on par with most and there prices are quite standard. But the two major things for me that are a deterrence is the lack of registers both self serve and staff operated registers. Considering this store is attached to most likely the most popular and busiest mall in Vancouver, they should seriously have more check out counters. It's more often than not, insanely busy so long lines and long periods of waiting should be something else you budget for outside of your wallet. Secondly the service is another issue for me. Anytime I have a question I'm told to ask another individual. Now I know the store is massive so a single employee should not be expected to know everything about all their products, but multiple times I've been 'cast off' to someone else who is just as clueless as the previous individual.
So after all being said and done, check it out if you're in the mall already and have no clue where else to get what you're looking for. Otherwise in my opinion you'd be better off buying you're groceries elsewhere.....like T&T or IGA.

Okay so when someone mentions "McDix"....what do you think of? Unhealthy food? Uncomfortable seats? Long line ups? Well if that's what you're expecting...than This McDonalds totally delivers. Now don't get me wrong....Isn't that what everyone expects from any and all fast-food restaurants? The exception about this location is
1). The Decor: The outside of the building looks like a cool, two floor ski lodge. Actually if it wasn't for the giant "M" sign outside, you'd never think it was a McDonalds. It has a very warm an welcoming feeling inside as well. Warm lights instead of bright, white florescent lights.
2). Seating: Not only is there ample seating downstairs but you can find extra seating upstairs as well as an upstairs outside patio.
3). Service: Well fast-food should be...well...fast. But they actually do deliver with a smile. They're patient and courteous and ultimately make you feel better about the indulgence that is McDonalds.

So, if you're strapped for cash and are in the Kerrisdale area, hell even if you're not strapped for cash but wanna a cool change of pace, Check'em out!
