Had lunch with friends here just after Christmas.

Really friendly reception, totally accommodating and great with the fact we had a baby with us. A fantastic start.

Lovely house red too, another load of brownie points.

For starter I had thai fishcakes, which were obviously home-made, and contained just the right amount of chilli. Very nice indeed.

Main was a venison wellington, with haggis and a side of carrot/swede mash. Lovely sauce, but the meat was overdone for me. I still thoroughly enjoyed it though.

Decent prices as well. By the time we left, the place was packed with families, so I'd suggest that it's a great location if you have kids but you don't want to visit a 'family restaurant'.

Was lucky enough to go here yesterday for lunch. Hidden away, this place is a secret from the start, and a real treat.

Basic decoration, with beautiful art and a busy service, I warmed to it from the moment I stepped in. Surprising to see so many suits though ;)

I had a caramelised onion & goat's cheese tart to start, which was absolutely divine. Just thinking about it is making my mouth water actually. I'd go back just for that. Looking around, the pork rillettes also look really nice - but I always have that, so thought I'd mix it up.

For main I had the roast duck special, served perfectly pink with red cabbage, fried and dressed green salad. Utterly lovely.

Left feeling satisfied but not overfed. Will definitely be back.

Service is exactly quick though, so maybe good for an afternoon or an evening.

Delicious! Had Sunday lunch here with friends last month and was pleasantly surprised at how nice - and competitively priced - the food was.

Close to the station, HUGE and really very tasty. What more do you want?

I had a delicious pork roast, complete with the trimmings (and cauliflower cheese - always a bonus). Potatoes - 6/10.

This is the perfect place to sink into a dark corner with a loved one and lavish far too much money on delicious cocktails, then lose yourself in each other.

Chic, well-designed, private and very cool. I love this place. I wouldn't go there to eat, nor near the end of the month when every penny counts, but sometimes it's fun to splash out. To be decadent and a little naughty.

Ideal for making out into the evening with someone you adore.

Now that my second office location in Farringdon is a stone's throw away - I'll be going here much more often.

I've had lunch here twice now, and ordered the same thing twice. I think it's because I'm obssessed with butternut squash tortellini.

ANYWAY.

It's delicious, you must have it. Small version for lunch, large for dinner.

I like the ambience here, it's small but full of character. They don't mind you hanging about in the teeny-tiny sofa area, providing you grab a coffee. Free WiFi too, so you could work here if you wanted. I'm not sure it would be the best place to do so, but still, the option's there.

I haven't tried during busy periods, but for a safe, 'wont be disappointed' option of lunch, this is a winner,

Food? NO! Drinks? Yes!!

I used to work barely a few minute walk from here, and went there (sadly) for lunch once. Bleurgh! I was given a terrible, chewy steak sandwich, overpriced and basically inedible.

However! It was served with a smile, and the place has serious character. It's obvious that the people who run this know their beer - the selection is phenomenal.

So when we needed a central place for beers, and were bored with all the 'usuals', we headed here. On a busy Friday, space was made for us, drinks were reasonable and the suggestions for various beers were great.

I was drinking vodka all night, which they didn't mind, though I did partake in the beer tasting stick at the end.

All in all, GOOD TIMES for drinks, BAD TIMES for food. Got it? Great.

Best sandwich joint in town, hands down.

Love the fresh produce, love the choice, the breads, the meats. Love the interior and the bare wood, love sitting here for lunch on my own while I watch the world go by and steal an hour to myself.

Love it all. I like choice, and Benugo allows me to have the sandwich I'd have made at home, with the exact ingredients I'd buy from a deli.

Drinks here are GREAT; sitting in the booths placed front of house, it's a lovely place to hang out.

But the food and the service is where Redhook goes wrong.

Twice I've been here and the service has been less than impressive. People getting things wrong, forgetting parts of the order, mixing up bills, the works. Oh, and the express menu? A sitting taking an hour and a half for two courses is NOT what I'd call fast.

I'm saddened by this since I really wanted to love this place! Alas, I'm filing it in my 'good for drinks' folder. Booo.

I went here for a special evening event with 42below vodka, so I'm not sure I encountered typical service.

However, I'm not mad about the decor. It just didn't feel very special at all. It had been overhyped to me before I went, and I have to say I was a little let down. BUT, for the benefit of the doubt, I didn't really see past the first room on entry, since the others were closed off for private parties.

Plus, it was rammed and I felt like I couldn't breathe for most of the time. We found a table but were told it was reserved for bottle service, only to see a group of four take it immediately afterwards - and order beer. Hmmm.

The cocktails were amazing, but free, so I can't judge price. I also didn't really see the rest of the rooms, since they were closed off for private parties.

Hey, I enjoyed my time, and it's in a great area of town for other bars, plus it benefits from the hip factor. But I won't be heading back any time soon to see if it lives up to Lizzie G's review, or Andrew's....

Cons:

The don't serve Jaeger
They don't serve Red Bull
They take forever to serve food

Pros:

Veeeery reasonable prices for drinks
Unique place with loads of seating.
A little out of the way so it attracts a nice clientele.
THE best steak sandwich in the world, marinated for 24 hours in garlic, chili and a whole host of other fragrant things, simply fried and served in a home baked roll with onions. Incredible.

The Pros win, hands-down.
