I don't like to spend a lot on food when I am out. But I don't like to eat bad food... No one does! Are there any great food trucks in London similar to the ones in the link. I don't eat cheap burgers! I did find the Moro stall at exmouth Market. Thanks.

Red and I were just talking about this last night.  There should totally be more street food vendors in London.

Mmm... I miss a great food truck that sold prawn and chive dumplings in flushing main street, NY!  With all the immigrants to Settling in London over the past ten years, why have we not seen more entrepreneurs setting up trucks selling their native food! There is the Sunday upmarket with its foodstalls. But that is limited to one day. Am I right?! I love the pick and mix style of choosing dishes for less than restaurant prices.

There are quite a few hot dog trucks around Bloomsbury, but my guess is that they're pretty bad.  Just because they're only around for the tourists (e.g. those walking out of the British Museum and looking for a hot dog).  And food that's specifically geared for tourists usually is.

@Phil That IS weird...

I know! I know! There is a food truck late nights outside the Highbury & Islington station selling all kinds of drunk food. (Kebabs, sausages, etc etc)... this is a total American-style food truck.

Oh, now that I think about this, there's a food stand just outside Wandsworth Town station that seems to be a big hit with locals coming and going on Old York Rd.  It sells bacon butties and greasy things of the same ilk.

(seriously in love with my soon-to-be new 'hood)

PS, that article is kind of sad.  Poor street-food vendors.

Found a nice one opposite the biaozi inn...

I had an oyster pancake which had chicken onions and spring onions in a battered deep fried pancake. No obvious oysters or even oyster sauce. It cost just one squid!

If an oyster costs 45p each in a supermarket. How are they going to include oyster(s) into a pancake that they charge £1 for & still make a living?

I've heard rumours of a relatively high quality burrito van at Whitechapel market... or is it Whitecross Market?

Eat My Pies is FANTASTIC over in Spitalfields, and the pork-sandwich guy makes a killing outside Sunday Up-Market!

Hey... it's Sunday, isn't it?!

The burrito stall sounds good. Mexican food is so rare in the UK... I used to love the carne asadas in SF! Taking a guess whitecross is the better bet as to where it is. As there supposed to be good food market at lunchtime... For The nearby office workers.

Upmarket is delicious!

my friend is lauching a 2 week trial of a new business today - details below...

This Monday 13th July I'm launching a two week trial for a new business.

It's a new food retail offer for the streets of London.  It's a bit like an ice cream van but with food.  It will aim to bring quality, varied, interesting food to the most convenient places in the capital.  By having low fixed costs using a team of electric vans instead of shops we plan to pass on the savings to our customers so prices will be very competitive.
Our first offer involves a range of 4 hearty salads, retailing from £3-£3.50 whilst we will also be selling a range of sweets from Suck&Chew for those in need of a guilty pleasure.
Follow us on Twitter @thefoodporter to find out where we are popping up next week.  To start with we'll be hitting East London / Shoreditch so please pass this on to anyone you know who works in the area.

Worthy Sandwiches, Grilled Cheese to Chinese

Murray's Cheese, in a no-brainer business move, has diversified into grilled cheese sandwiches. From a counter right at the front of the flagship Bleecker Street store, guttergourmet chose the Little Stinker: the semisoft, Taleggio-like Grayson from Virginia's Meadow Creek Dairy paired with Niman Ranch ham and pressed between two slices of caraway-seeded rye. He sums it up in three letters: "OMG!"

Among the other choices are the Greenwich Village (fontina, prosciutto di Parma, roasted garlic, pesto), the Spaniard (Manchego, quince, jamón serrano), the Delicate Flower (fontina, puréed artichoke, prosciutto cotto), and the Smoke That Turkey (roasted turkey, maple-smoked Gouda, Hawthorne Valley Farm sauerkraut).

In Midtown, the lunch crowd is eating up hefty heros from Papa Perrone's, a pizza truck previously acclaimed for its Sicilian rice balls. sam1 says its meatball-Parm sandwich on garlic bread is "huge, insanely tasty, and heavy," and enough for two lunches. (He also tried the pizza, once: "possibly the worst pizza of my life.")

Another hound-worthy sandwich has resurfaced in Midtown at Mantao, a week-old reincarnation of the sorely missed Province in Tribeca. The new place, like the old one, tucks Asian-accented fillings--spicy pork, grilled chicken with cilantro, short rib with kimchee, among others--into griddled northern-Chinese-style wheat buns. hungrytaf is sold: "OMG so delicious! Ate there with a co-worker and we both flipped out."
