If you were to go on a little DART excursion, where would you stop, and why! Would you do a little restaurant trail or a beachy pub crawl? I'm thinking Weekly Yelp DART style here! It's all the sun ye see...

This is cool! I don't have much DART experience but I have gone from Blackrock to Greystones and it was lovely scenery wise!

Great topic Emily! There is so much potential here, between Howth and Malahide on the northside and the beautiful costal scenery on the southern stretches.
Ok, so I'll go posh on this one. How about food and drinks in Dalkey? So the DART south, sit on the left hand side leaving the city for the sea views. Once in Dalkey one needs to work up an appetite first. SO I'm thinking a walk up "The Metals" to the quarry, search for the route up the top and admire the panoramic views of the city, Dublin bay and Killiney bay. It's a short walk down the other side to the Vico and Sorrento roads, have a look see how the other half live. Walk past the picturesque Coliemore Harbour on your way to Dalkey village. By the time you arrive you'll be in need of a drink, so stop into Michelle Obama's local Finnegans for a few pints. Dalkey has a good selection of cafes and restaurants (I have heard particularly good things about the Guinea Pig, but €€€).11/7/2013 -

Howth has been my usual stop for fun times for many a year now. Fish in the Oar House, music and craic in Findlaters and a walk up the hill. Maybe quench the thirst in the Top House.

Yes definitely howth, especially love the cliff walks and watching the porpoises out at sea. But the other end of the dart is great too, I love the cafes in greystones, especially the happy pear. Fresh homemade food

Aoife hehe I have to say the last DART I got was about 20 years ago! Gonna do it over the weekend though! Do you guys have any good reviews to point me to? I'd love to read about your individual experiences / recommendations, or maybe you will have some to write over the weekend!

There's a deli in dalkey that's awesome but not sure of the name. Last time we went out there on dart we got rolls and cakes and walked down the the harbour to eat them. There were seals ;)

Dart to Howth, eat in either the Oar House or Octopussys and then walk it all off around Howth head. Finish off your excursion with a ice filled pint of Bulmers at the Bloody Stream. Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

You could hop off in Harmonstown and pop into mine for some lunch, the giant dog would love some company! Failing that there's the typicals, DunLaoighre has some lovely stops for food but tends to be in the upper price regions, if you're out in Bray, especially with the fest and the sun, Molloy's Bakery is a lovely place, halfway between a bakery and a greasy spoon and sporting the loveliest staff I've ever come across!

While I'm loathe to have it be not so secret anymore, I can't stop talking about Burrow Beach in Sutton. Seriously, no one seems to have known it was there, not even people I work with, it's bizarre! It's also just a 10 minute walk from the dart station, just swing a left from the Dart station down an innocuous lane which leads straight down to the beach!

Lisa - there are no amenities there so stock up on ice cream, salad, drinks at the nearby Superquinn first! The water was also surprisingly mild and very clean!
Let us know how you go!15/7/2013 -

Every few months we do the Dart Run at work...which involves getting off at every dart stop that has a pub within 5 minutes walking distance, having a drink, getting back on the dart until you get to otown.
Which involves about 8 stops...17/7/2013
