My friend first recommended Zen to me, and I go there regularly to have my eyebrows done. They offer a wide range of medicinal treatments (massages, acupuncture) from those stated by the reviewer (MissGood) below, to beauty treatments (waxing, facials, manicures/pedicures). They are expanding their premises so there will be more treatment rooms, and recently they introduced threading as an alternative to plucking or waxing of eyebrows. Verdict: I have a low pain threshold, and I didn't find threading painful in the slightest, and it's the best method of all 3 to define the eyebrows. The owner, Cindy, is fabulous and her staff are gorgeous and friendly, the decor immaculate, and it's literally less than a minutes stroll from Notting Hill Gate Station (Central, District & Circle Lines).
I really wanted to like this place, very nice environment and the women at counter were lovely. I asked if the mid level pedi included a foot massage and they said yes but it didnt. I had pre paid bcuz they were closing and at the end they asked how it was and I said I didn't get the massage. They apologized and said I should have, but said it was my lady's last day so she probably shorted me. They didn't even offer me the lower price pedi instead. Left feeling bummed and felt like I wasted 35 pounds on something I could have done myself. Won't be back.
Went to this salon for the first time recently and it was quite pleasant. Like many, probably, I was initially pulled in by the beautiful front of the spa with the gorgeous vintage chair in the minimalist, peaceful room.
I had a manicure/pedicure and it was pretty good. The ladies were a little too enthusiastic about clipping my cuticles, so they were quite sore after. The staff were very friendly and relaxed and there was peaceful music in the background, though, so it was quite a nice experience.
The salon is indeed as beautiful inside as it looks to be. Everything is finished to a lovely standard and it's a pleasure to spend some time in there relaxing. I'd like to try some of their massage services - the other customers looked very pleased and there seemed to be multiple regulars, which is always a good sign!
Only other thing is that I wanted to leave a generous tip, but for some reason you can't leave a tip if you pay by card. I think that's pretty crappy and not fair to the staff. I hope they fix that.
i'm going to be completely uncreative and agree wtih teresa and vicky. zen is a solid place for quiet self-maintenance. it's not going to knock your socks off but it's a good place for routine treatments.
they use dermalogica for facials. -safe products but you won't see off the chart results. HOWEVER, the face massage is incredible.
opi and essie for nails. again, sticking with the safeness, the colors are generally pink and feminine. bring your own polish if you want fun colors. really great ladies and my nails look great.
i'll definitely be going back on a regular basis.
