I came here with a friend for some pre night out pamering and was very pleasantly surprised once inside!
There is a wide range of treatments and the staff are friendly and helpful. There's a nice relaxing atmosphere and on the whole we both a good experience.
The best part is the price, definately worth the money, especially in comparison to extortionate London prices!!
Next time I'm in Manchester I'll be sure to come back.
Ok maybe I shouldn't shout too loud about this place because I'm scared once the word gets out it will be impossible to get an appointment, but its my duty woman to woman to share the knowledge of this amazing salon.
Zara is located up some steps towards the end of the Curry Mile, near Hardy's Well. Its nothing special from the outside but my gosh its good.
They offer a range of services such as hair, nails, facial, and waxing. However the thing that I'm going to shout about the most is the threading. I'm the first to admit that I'm vain, I like to look groomed and in my opinion nothing is worse that bushy eyebrows. These ladies are the eyebrow masters, nowhere else can achieve the arch and shape that I get from here.
The prices are amazing, threading the eyebrows costs a fiver and they also do a bikini wax for the same price. Also this place is run my muslim ladies so its ladies only, its good to know that no men are going to walk in while having your lady garden trimmed!
I walked in to the salon and there were several ladies sat on a sofa, I informed them that I had an appointment for a cut and a girl was picked out to cut my hair. Firstly the girl did not communicate with me as I just wanted my shape putting back in she started to hack at my hair. I asked her if less could be taken off but to no avail she was very blunt and I have ended up with a wonky haircut with no shape and is so uneven that I look like a bowl was put on my head and cut around I definately will not be visiting here again.
Exterior and interior is less than attractive. The ladies are very nice and sweet but.. I have to say, that the place where they do the threading and waxing doesn't look very appealing. You basically lie on your back staring at the ceiling with fluorescent lights and the covers they use looks like it hasn't been changed in weeks. The protective covering on the bed should be replaced after every customer or at least before it looks torn and dirty (as it did today). The place smells of Body Odor (at least it was warm..) and that is NOT relaxing. The threading is good however (note this is my first time threading) and my eyebrows and forehead was done very quickly. The thread keeps breaking and they held the 'third' end of the thread in their mouth I've seen places where they tied it in a knot around their neck but alas.. I just hope no saliva is dripping down. .
I didn't feel any pain though cause I'm used to plucking my eyebrows but when i got home, I saw red spots of blood on my eyebrow where the skin was pinched or hair pulled. That's probably normal when you go threading. But it cost 5 (brows) and 4 (forehead) so you get what you paid for. In the end, my brows came up looking normal and in an improved state though it didn't really differ from before. Looks cleaner though, but I'd probably try elsewhere for threading.
