Made a pit stop here for lunch, whilst on a 4 mile walk. The exterior of the pub is tastefully decorated with a delightful patio area with fairy lights and comfy patio furniture.
The staff are very welcoming and we were seated at a table by the window. The menu is varied with a pizza menu whereby pizzas are cooked in the wood fire oven which is a nice feature of the restaurant area.
After plumping for a couple of pizzas and a side order of sweet potato fries our order was taken on a tablet - not something I had seen before.
The pizzas soon arrived and we demolished them with each bite being delicious. The service was great, with our waitress was attentive and friendly.
I would most definitely recommend this place for drinks and food and you can hold a party here whereby an area by the bar is sectioned off for your personal use - a nice touch.
The Saracen's Head has been through a number of owners over the past ten years, with varying degrees of success. It is now much more of a restaurant than a pub.
The building itself is lovely, with some very old features, and allegedly a resident ghost in the front parlour. Surprisingly for such an old building, the various rooms are bright and airy, and there has been some resistance to packing the tables in, meaning that you can dine in a degree of privacy. There are also a number of tables outside, with comfortable furniture.
The menu is fairly lengthy, with all that implies, but the restaurant is kept full by some significant 2for1 deals. We have been here a couple of times recently, and it has been busy on both occasions.
The service is pleasant and friendly. It was a little slow on one of our visits, but it was peak time and the place was packed.
This is a great option for a reasonably priced meal in nice surroundings. I would suggest you go early if you are short on time.
It used to be better when you could order at the bar.... then you didnt have to wait for the waiter to come around.
Great location and friendly staff but havnt been back being that its going down hill a little.
I will go back at some point but there are other great places to eat
Really lovely. Under new management and you can tell. We had a fab meal, service was excellent and the food was perfectly cooked. In a lovely spot surrounded by the countryside. Highly recommended and at 2for1 permanently on the food you cant complain about anything here.
Came in with family after a recent request from friends saying how good it was and needs to be tried out. Everything I was told about the site and new management was true. It was a great experience and I will definatley be recommending here to my friends and family. Food fantastic, great range of drinks and exceptional service. (We have now found a great place to come as this is the best pub/restaurant for miles around)
Used to use this pub very often, however, having visited this pub just over a month ago and had a disastrous meal, we hadn't visited again.
Decided to try it out again, as this pub is very convenient for us and our 2 friends to meet and have a meal at.
Sorry to say that this time we ate was worst than the last time sadly! We thought that maybe it was a one off, as we had never had food so bad at this pub in the past.
We visited on Tuesday evening, and we waited 55 minutes for our food to arrive at our table, when it did 2 of the meals had to sent back to the kitchen as one meal was cold, and the steak on the other was well over-done. When our meals were delivered back to us, another 17 minutes later, and after the rest of the party had completely finished there meals, the quality wasn't much better. We did not eat our meals and left having expressed to the waitress about our meal.
Safe to say, that this pub has gone downhill, and losing customers that have eaten here for a long time.
Shocking and very dissapointing.
I visit the Saras every Sunday with a group of my friends, usually around 8 of us visit. We went last Sunday, there were only 6 of us on this occasion, pub was very busy, helpful staff managed to find us a table within 5 minutes. Just enough time for us to choose our wine (great selection- great value for money) Brilliant value for money again on the 2 for 1 menu, for 6 of us we only had to pay for 3 main meals ( i had a special which is on the offer too. posh surf and turf- best steak ive had in ages!!!!) My friend Julia had ham egg and chips, eggs cooked to perfection with freshly sliced ham. And Alison had a spiced salmon salad....which was so nice , we all had a try! The new management team were all lovely, I think the new manager is called ashley( he wears glasses) all introducing themselves to us. Honestly believe the service and food has got better! Been told that full table service is going to be introduced soon at the saras! will be brillliant on this menu for its value! Excited!!! Defiatly coming back, recommend it to all!!
