i havent been in yates since it was refurbished but before that it was a big place. what i liked was that the whole of the front windows could be opened up & it made the place seem bigger
Roomy place when management don't over fill it in the evening. Pleasant in early afternoons if the piped musak is kept to a minimum or off (JD Wetherspoon manage to).
Food average pub grub. Drinks improving with (overpriced) Real Ale support among the unimaginative mass market Lagers and beers. Unbearably loud and crammed in the evening with the increasingly prevalent piped musak & 'Nightclub-itis'. Above average Scrote count in late aft.
It's alright I suppose, not my favourite pub in Preston, but will visit the place if I am in the city centre.
The bar staff are nicely dressed but the service can be very slow, the beer is well over priced & not of a great quality, the bottled beer can be quite expensive. The food menu is typical Yate's, quite a bit of variety and you do get what you pay for, not bad quality for the price.
Overall, I've had mediocre experiences there.
Went in Thursday night. Cost a pound entry fee. Fairly busy. Bar staff were slow to serve us. No real ales on and the John smiths was horrible.
Very lively, buzzing, big and bouncing pub. Wear your best trendy clothes and come here before going clubbing.
recently re furbished. nice atmosphere buzzing at the weekends. good food
