3 reviews for Woods Bar & Brasserie
All Reviews
I am definatly a fan and even more so now the sun is shinning and you can eat 'al fresco'.
The service in the best i've experienced in the Bay and actually the food beats most of them too. Its just good quality, fresh tasty food. Its what I call fancy food, like there's always something on the menu that I won't know what it is, but I'm yet to have a bad experience and I especially think the pre-theatre menu of 3 courses for under £20 is money well spent.
I too had amazing fish here which makes me so happy because all I want when i'm by the sea is good fresh fish. YUm
Woods is situated in an odd place, across the road from the indoor car park and next door to Subway. It's hardly apt for an establishment that provides fine dining but this place really is amazing.
The staff are friendly, polite and attentive but not to the point of being irritating, the atmosphere is mellow and relaxed and the setting is classy without being pretentious. Then there's the food. The fabulous food, I had the best chocolate fondant of my life at this place. It melted on my tongue and I was powerless against it's charms, I could happily have died or sold my soul for another one.
Yes, it's a bit on the pricey side but you get what you pay for, if you're on a budget, pop in at lunchtime where you'll get three courses for 17.50. A little taste of luxury without causing another economic crisis.
It's been over a month and I still salivate while thinking about the perfectly 'steamed sea bass served with leeks & fondant potato with celeriac puree and a langoustine reduction' I had at Woods. This place has some fantastic food.
Located right by Cardiff Bay, its modern stand alone building is inviting and boasts some fine cuisine. This restaurant locally sources their produce. The cocktails are good, the service is friendly and the ambience is serene. Around the table we had terrines, roasted pigeon breasts, confit of salmon and creamed goat cheese to start. None of us were disappointed. My sea bass main was perfectly cooked and had the right balance of flavours between the celeriac puree and the langoustine reduction.
Happy to go back again and if I ever do have people come visit me in Cardiff then I'd definitely take them there too!
