Love this little place, like Aroma but with a pulse. When you first go, it's like you're the first to discover the restaurant. Staff welcome you as if they've not seen people in years and treat you as if you were the only diners to visit. The food is amazingly good, this place will show up your local takeaway for sure, and it doesn't cost the earth. The only issue is the size of the place, it can hold maybe 50 people but it fills up quick, as you'd expect of a place this popular. The owners could double the price, double the floor space and still have people queuing out the door but please don't, this place is perfect already.

Pulling up outside, all of us in the car had the same reaction - "Oh, gawd, this looks grim"; it looks like how Chinese restaurants looked in the 80s, and the inside is the same.
It's a lesson in not judging a book by its cover, though, because the food is actually pretty good. In my view, if every plate is clean at the end of a meal, it tells you all you need to know about the food, and this is the case here
We were there as part of a large party (19), and had the all-you-can-eat dinner; no-one ordered off the menu, the food arrived and just kept coming. It's fairly standard Chinese fare, but it doesn't have that overly-"chemical" flavour of MSG that puts me off in other places (perhaps that also explains why I ate so much, too....!)
The bill worked out at £27/person, which I thought was pretty reasonable considering the number of drinks it included on top of the great food.
Certainly worth a visit.

Definitely the best Chinese in Northampton but possibly one of the best I've ever been to. It's absolutely amazing value for the all you can eat menu. It's great that it's all cooked fresh to order rather than the standard buffet style all you can eat. They are happy to accommodate parties if you give them notice and the staff are great. There's not much wheelchair access as they cram as many tables and chairs in as possible and there is only one ladies toilet that can lead to a queue.

The best Chinese restaurant in Northampton, by a long way. value for money is excellent with the all you can eat deal being a particular favourite. You can re-order after each course and just keep eating!! They are quite happy if you order multiples of one course - Crispy Duck for example! The quality of the food is amazing - their deep fried aubergine is the best I have had anywhere. Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant, staff are really friendly and do their best to remember you if you are a regular! It is always busy and booking is highly recommended.

The Wok Inn has a great reputation for Chinese food in Northampton, and with good reason.
First, it's great value for money - it's a fixed price (I think it's cheaper if you go for lunch rather than in the evenings, but even so, the evening price is still only about £15 a head) and that's for all your food, no matter what you order.
It's far better than a buffet style restaurant, as you order exactly what you want, it's all cooked freshly for you and it arrives quickly too.
The crispy duck is excellent too!
The service isn't the best in the world, but nothing to worry about - and the food more than makes up for it!
If you're in Northampton, you must visit the Wok Inn.
