I went to the Windmill this weekend. At the moment they have an excellent offer on where from Tuesday to Friday 6-9pm and Tuesday to Saturday 12-2pm you can get a 3 course meal for £10. We ate with friends and really enjoyed it.
Two of us started with the Chicken liver parfait with chutney and toast, the chicken liver with smooth and was well complimented by the chutney. My best friend had a tasty starter of squid in breadcrumbs and my husband tucked into his ham and cheddar terrine with gusto. For the main course I had the tender pork steak in a delicious sauce with peach, dauphinoise potatoes and summer vegetables. My husband enjoyed a whole seabass with chips and summer vegetables, my best friend had deep fried fish in a light batter with crushed minted peas and chips and her husband took the grill option (not part of the £10 offer but if you select this you get a starter and a dessert for £1 each!). We rounded off the meal with either strawberries and cream or a banana bread and butter pudding with cream.
The service was excellent and on chatting to the manager we discovered that they change the menu every week so we will definitely go back again. There is a heated seating area outside to enjoy pre - and post dinner drinks. My friend's husband was particularly impressed that the pub had featured in the TV series Aufwiedersehen Pet and there is some information on the wall inside.
Well worth a visit and the food is not only good value but very tasty. We will be going again!!
Pub and restaurant in the Belvoir area. Excellent food in the restaurant, but pricey. Nice bar area inside and out. There are resident cats which laze by the open fire in winter.
The Windmill is an excellent restaurant that we stumbled across while out for a leisurely drive round some of the local villages. It has a lovely old, yet modern feel to it inside with a combination of old brick walls, low ceilings and beams and modern leather sofas and wood flooring. The menu is always good, offering something for every taste. The first time we went we had the Steak & Ale Pie and we couldn't stop raving about it for days later. It was divine! We joined the Gourmet Society, after seeing a leaflet there, and were able to go back and get 2 meals for the price of one bonus! A definite must to dine out at you'll go back again and again, I promise!
