I visited White and bishop for the firs time recently, its one of those shops that i always walked passed but just thought it was especially for people whom are super into camping walking etc. so unfortunatly im not the best outdoor- see person, so had not been in there.
Anyway recently myself and my family have been going walking a lot, a. to keep fit but b. its a great way to spend time with your family, anyway, i wanted a berghaus coat, as my son, daughter and husband all have them, and they are brilliant.
Normally i would just order over internet, but since i was in town thought i'd try them out.
The staff are fantastic, this great guy helped me choose out the best style for me, i went for the fleece and then the wind deflector that goes over it.
Also when in there i realised they have loads of bargains, and was definatly as expensive as i originally thought. Obviously some items on high end quality products that definatly come with a price tag - but there are bargains to be had.
I was also shocked of how many different things they sell, they had some great beach stuff and picnic baskets etc, and all at great prices.
The store is laid out well, and is near the lifts that come down from the carpark, so great access.
Staff, products, store etc are all great and i will definatly be going in there more often now.
White and Bishop is a great shop selling stuff for the outdoors. Its like Millets but is a lot more of a specialist shop.
It has a great selection of wellies, camping gear, outdoor sportswear, shoes, books, hiking, ski etc, etc
The staff are friendly and helpfull too!
I do like 'White and Bishop', both in Rugby and in Northampton. I have used the Rugby store the most over the years and was really happy when i moved to Northampton to find another even bigger store.
It gets a little bit of stick because it is run by members of the 'Jesus Army' but what this means to me is that no matter what mood i am in I always get great service from some super nice people. Apart from only one occasion when i mentioned to a member of staff that Paramo clothing was made be ex-prostitutes in Colombia and i think he took offense. I wasn't lying, Paramo saves desperate women from lives on the streets by giving them jobs.
White and Bishops is more for top end kit. It is not really fair to compare it with Millets as more and more the Millets and Blacks of this world are forgetting about the outdoors and turning to selling outdoor-fashion.
They are also pretty good with offering discount to the emergency services, members of the scouts, mountain rescue and countless other organisations.
White and Bishop has helped me kit out for travels in over 56 countries and always knows it's products and has great advice for any kind of traveler. I hope they continue to do so.
Terrible terrible delivery. One of those that lied about no one at home when they did not even come to address. You have to call premium number to rebook.
