This is a good large garden centre with lots on offer. They have recently extended this & it's now huge! Also on the site is Beesley & Fildes timber merchants. The staff are knowledgeable & will answer any questions you have. There is also a nice gift selection. They have also added a nice little cafe where you can get hot drinks. It's a nice place just to go & look around. There is a large outdoor area as well- it just seems to go on & on.
Very easy to find & loads of parking, even on busy days it's not full. They also sell bottled gas & can deliver large items.
This garden center in Prescot has such an expanse of space which is greatly un-utilized. The displays could be more appealing and they need more stock , it seems empty and no atmosphere and very quiet almost like it's due to close down, no at all inviting. The art of displaying goods is very poor i thought, there seems to be no organization obviously lacking a few creative staff .I would expect the prices to be cheaper here but they are very high in comparison to other leading garden centers, and i do visit them all.
They do have a cafe area which i am sorry to say is not much better there is no display of food on offer and a very limited menu. I had a cheese toastie which came with a tiny side salad i.e one small slice of tomato, half a slice of cucumber a bit of lettuce which was brown and not edible and this princely meal cost me £4.20.
The all seem to very young and inexperienced and not interacting with customers at all.
Whitakers is a part of Beesley & Fildes and on the surface this looks a really impressive place to shop. It has had a large expansion of late and this is continuing and will enable them to offer more services and goods to customers. There is a large store with many items well presented and it is easy to walk around with wide aisles for disabled customers. There are also cafeteria facilities which enables visitors to purchase a snack, drinks and even meals and you can sit inside or weather permitting you can dine outside too. When I dined there as a group, including children, I wasn't impressed with quality of the food served and thought the prices were excessive. Discounts are offered on a Monday for the elderly, however many of the products can be found much, much cheaper elsewhere and so often even with any discount, the products are still more expensive than the likes of B&Q.
