So I have really neglected my hair over the last year. I got it salvaged by Rick at the Rose & Crown who did a sterling job and then I made him bleach it blonde and I failed to maintain it to any standard at all for the last 9 months. So I had half dark, half blonde hair, that I'd cut a bit myself as there were bits at the back, as it grew longer, that really annoyed me.
My hair, suffice to say, was a bloody shambles.
I thought I'd go back to being a brunette as it is a lot easier to keep up, but was persuaded to stay blonde. I thought I'd invest in it and had a look on the net and especially on Qype (of course) for someone who comes recommended as a good colourist. I found Sarah at Wedge and booked myself in.
She has done a terrific job on what was a very challenging prospect. Also, I didn't feel judged for having failed to look after my hair and for self administering dodgy cuts. The salon was really cool, and Sarah was just great. I'm really pleased with the job she's done on my hair and I've definitely go back, because the cut is excellent too.
She even offered me a slice of pizza. Now that's customer service. If I could give it 6 stars, I would.
Wow! what a fantastic hair salon, really impressed with the team at wedge and so happy with my haircut. The salon looks amazing and the service was great. I will be going back for all future haircuts and my wife has booked in for this week. Keep up the good work!!
It's always difficult trying to find a new hairstylist. All I ask of my hairdresser is that he or she will never maim my hair and that my resulting haircut is exactly what I asked for.
Well, I decided to try out Wedge due to its great ratings on Qype and regretfully am going to buck the 5 star rating here. I am disappointed with my haircut - it was not what I asked for at all. The cut I was given looks odd and my request for a sweeping fringe was misinterpreted.
I wouldn't have minded if the resulting straight cut fringe looked nice, but right now I'm not sure what the stylist's intent was (it looks a bit crooked and thinned out). My hair length is now too short (I'll have to wait for it to grow an inch in length again). Luckily, I still have somewhat of a sweeping fringe if I manipulate my hair's parting so it's not too much of a disaster.
Next time, I'm going to think really carefully instead of just automatically scribbling down the number of whichever salon on Qype is rated 5 stars. Maybe I was just unlucky, maybe the stylist was having a bad day, but I'm definitely not coming here again.
Oh well. For me, getting disappointing and disastrous haircuts seem to be a bi-monthly tradition, so I guess it's back to waiting a month or so (my hair grows quickly, thank god) before I think about where to visit/get my hair butchered next.
I have had so many bad experiences with hairdressers so decided to try wedge. The salon has a cool and funky feel to it and i was welcomed by sarah (The owner) as soon as i arrived. I sat down with her first and we discussed my hair, i just basically needed a trim then blowdried straight. I told Sarah i was really trying to grow my hair so just really wanted her to take off what was needed (in the past other hairdressers always take off far too much!!!). After the consaltation i was taken downstairs to have my hair washed which was also very nice. I had my hair trimmed and blowdried. The blowdry was great as it was done in a flicky out style at the end which really gave my hair alot of body (usually as my hair has frizz i go over it with my ghd's and make it dead straight and flat). But have to say i left feeling great and hair had volume and bounce and something new. I also discussed colur and will definately be doing back to colour. Also as I am growing my hair out from a drastic bob, my hair is now shoulder length, so its at that in between stage, so also discussed the possibilty of temporary hair extensions. Sarah was really good an honest with her comments to me and i am definately going back. Will review again once i have my colour and extensions.
