A reasonably priced restaurant opposite Waterloo Station on the Waterloo Road, with modern, stylish decor, the Waterloo Brasserie looks like it belongs in a more salubrious neighbourhood.
Great for evening drinks (their wine list is extensive to say the least!) or business lunches (the menu is described as class, French-inspired).
Waterloo Brasserie is modern and warm, with lots of deep red paint and dark wood tables and chairs. There was a fireplace with couches and a bar with hanging clear glass ornaments above it, and our tall table was decorated with small vases of vibrant orange and pink two-tone roses.
I had a fig and cheese tartine and some delicious blackcurrant hibiscus tea and my friend had a two-course meal with lentil soup and duck. We split the hot chocolate fondant dessert, which came with salted caramel sorbet and was warm, gooey and a delicious end to our meal. The prices were quite reasonable, too.
Amazing food. Warm goat's cheese starter and steak were both winners. Restaurant is secluded at back and bustling bar at the front. Oh and there's happy hour in the bar. Marked it down a star because the atmosphere is a bit hit and miss. Fridays it's pretty lively but some days it's graveyard shift.
enjoyed an early evening meal here with friends. we hadn't booked, but staff were really friendly, i'd arrived before my friends and they seated me at a table with a view of the entrance area. the food was of good standard, we had a couple of starters each rather than a main, all dishes were tasty and well presented. the place is quite spacious, seating and the facilities are all furnished to a high standard and I found all the the staff that served us to be both friendly and professional. would definitely recommend this, especially for larger groups as they have quite a few largish dining areas.
