Wagamama has to be one of my favourite Japanese restaurants so far. This particular branch in Croydon, conveniently just around the corner from Croydon college, is particularly good. The service is wonderful and there is a lovely atmosphere, not to mention the food is amazing! If you get a chance to go there, you must order a bowl of ramen and a plate of Gyoza (japanese dumplings). From what i remember, they do prawn gyoza, duck gyoza and chicken gyoza, served with plum sauce. It makes a wonderful snack, or a brilliant side dish to a meal.
Wagamama can be a little pricey with some of the dishes, for example a bowl of ramen costs £8, but you get what you paid for! The size of the ramen bowl is huge and it will always make you full! And if you can't eat it all, ask and they will put the rest in a pot for you to take home.
The desserts and drinks are also delicious! They make fresh juice drinks, and even some vegetable drinks that may sound strange on the menu, but taste amazing!
Of course, if you're looking for a cheap snack or lunch, you could just go for something simple such as a bowl of Japanese rice and Japanese pickles, which comes to around £3 and is absolutely delicious despite how bland it sounds. You would not have to worry about drinks either, becuase you will get served a cup of green tea for free.
So, if you fancy something a little different from fish and chips or a curry, try going to wagamama! You will be impressed.
When you visit a chain like Wagamama, you think you know what you're going to get, but somehow the Croydon outpost lets the side down, with some shoddy presentation and over-seasoning going on.
I'm pretty sure it's not just down to my aversion to Croydon, because I've eaten here a few times, and each time have found something not to my liking. It might be due to the fact that at lunchtime the place is normally packed with office workers, so perhaps the cooking suffers under the pressure.
Disappointing service. Had a large group, they split us up unevenly and far apart even though we could see a much better seating solution. Meals didn't arrive together. Wagamama's has nice food but it's a little overpriced for what it is.
The restaurant takes a minimalist approach to décor, and seating is canteen-style, on benches around long rectangular tables. Underneath the table there's a storage area for bags, and there's also coat hooks available on the walls for those nights when it's much colder outside than in.
The main menu is largely focused around noodles and rice dishes, ranging in price from £6 £10.
The Croydon Wagamama is friendly and welcoming, but the food at this branch, and indeed all the branches I've been to lately has been getting worse. The last time I went to Croydon Wagamama, they messed up companion's order and served my food cold. I've been appologised to about my food on my last four Wagamama visits which is very nice of them, but I've decided not to go there again.
brilliant food-love going to this one in croydon and recently went to brighton branch. food is fabulous-always have the chicken curry (chicken katsu) delicious-always filling. tried the duck type spring rolls with a difference-couldnt get enough of them-wanted more-the prawns in breadcrumbs are nice too. wow the asparagus is great-so fresh and tasty-have to have these as side dishes as when you order your food comes at different times so always eating something! desserts are nice too especially the cheesecake-if you can fit it in that is. nice touch is that you can have free green tea throughout meal-no questions-free! always visit-never a problem. look out for 241 offers on their website-register and you get offers all the time! brill
