The designers of this new hotel have taken their signature from the nearby Parisian universities and Grande Bibliothèque (National Library), making this the hotel a visual tribute to literature and writers. It has a glass door and front facade covered in manuscripts, a nicely laid out vestibule with good chairs and tables, suitable for actually relaxing, not just sitting at uncomfortably while waiting for a taxi.
Sadly the theme doesn't continue to named suites or any other real refinement of the concept .
On the other hand, the breakfast here is really good: French bread, butter, croissants, pain au chocolate, tea, milk or coffee served in a pretty breakfast room. The bedrooms benefit from flatscreen TV and new bathrooms throughout, the suites have Jacuzzis too. In the style of most newly refurbished boutique hotels, there is no restaurant but staff can recommend local eateries that cater especially to Villa Lutece's guests.
Rooms are still small by American standards but have good storage.
