Venice, London by Qype User Callum…

Venice Bar and Restaurant is a very average Italian restaurant that simply doesn't compare to the other Italian options in Blackheath (Locale, Bella Vista, Strada and Pizza Express).

On the Wednesday December night we visited, we were the only people in the whole restaurant, which spoiled the atmosphere a little.

We opted for the 2 course £11.95 (plus 12.5% service) set menu. While the food wasn't bad, it was nothing special either, and typical of what you'd probably find in any ordinary cafe in any city.

It's a shame, as Venice replaced the Mountain View Indian restaurant, of which I was a fan. The interior is practically unchanged from Mountain View, except instead of Indian music in the background, there's now Italian music.

Unfortunately, in these difficult times, I can't see Venice lasting long with their average offering. Hopefully their replacement will be something worthwhile.

Definitely a run of the mill Italian.

Service was incredibly slow considering only two tables occupied at lunchtime .

    Big place with strange decor

Food was ok.   Friend had sardines that she could not eat as they had a strange mushy texture ...should really have sent them back but we were in a hurry
