This is definitely one of the better drinking institutions in this area, some of the pubs can tend to be "old man" pubs, crammed full of locals, but this place is very casual and has a laid back kind of feel with a very varied clientèle.
I have been here before seeing Hibs play and will definitely come back again. I also think that even on a non match day, it would also be a pretty cool place to unwind as well, especially as they have some really comfy sofas.
There are several TVs around the bar allowing you to watch the latest sport that's on and there are free papers by the bar allowing you to catch up on the latest ongoings over a nice pint. Utopia bar also offers a good range of alcohol and is reasonably prices, will definitely be heading back soon!
After a long day canvassing during the last general election, myself and some friends were in dire need of some food and drink. With not knowing Leith that well, we wondered around the streets until we landed upon the Utopia bar on Easter Road.
The bar was quite busy and the seating areas were full of workers chatting away after a long day at work. We luckily got sat down at the sofas to the right of the bar, and quickly ordered some food. I had the Homemade quarter pounder, which was very tasty indeed, not an overly large portion but just the right amount. And instead of your normal side of chips or French fries, the burger came with a side of tortilla chips! Quite a nice change indeed, and they went very well with the burger! My friends went for the veggie and chili nachos which were both very tasty.
The bar has your normal selection of drinks on top of your pub grub food. The pub is a great place to relax and chill, and even has a pub quiz on a Tuesday which was great fun, however sadly we never won!
The Utopia Bar is certainly worth a visit if you are down in Leith!
