This is one of the most authentic and down to earth markets I have ever been to in London! If you want a slice of South London, look no further, it's all here in Tooting market.

I wandered through the plastic flowers, reggie music shops, sari fabric stalls, toys that don't meet EU standards, dodgy bags, henna hair dye and weave in a selection of fabulous colours. It's great to mooch around, buy household essentials, cheap summer clothes or even have your nails done! Its for locals, so don't expect glamour, expect friendliness. I bought some lovely plastic flowers and the lovely gent said I smiled so much he gave me another bunch for free! You can't beat that for customer service!

It's one to go with a friend to have a mooch and browse away. Don't judge a book by its cover. this really is a fabulous gem of a market.

Tooting Market is possibly the poorest, most underwelming market I've been to. The market is pretty small but there's nothing in the market that's really worth buying.

With Spitalfields and Borough Market you can get a variety of food form fresh bread to on the spot sandwiches but this market is more like a fruit and veg / cheap little market selling cheapy food and goods, not really up-market and fancy. Very no frills.

Even if you can't be bothered going all the way East or to the Southbank, Northcote Road Market (a very continental market) is close by.

I'm not really sure what this really has to offer and I wouldn't trust the fruit and veg from here either, I'd give it a miss.

Cheap and cheerful with some great bargains for food, fabric, clothes, shoes and household items. Also has some great cheap beauty services such as haircuts and manicures.

Particularly good for exotic foods and fabrics.

If you're feeling like a change from the usual grocery shopping at your local supermarket, this is a brilliant alternative for something different. Most of the produce on display is of foreign origin, mainly African and Caribbean influences are to be found. All the shopkeepers are friendly and more then happy to give a hand if you find a mysterious vegetable and want to know how the hell to cook it.

There's also a great butcher and fishmonger, offering their wares at much cheaper prices then you'll usually find at Tescos, and the cuts are excellent. And everything is indoors so you don't have to suffer if its a particularly rainy and windy day.

Prefer buying fish, meat, fruits and vegetables from the market rather than some supermarkets where most things had been frozen. I am happy there is still markets like this one. They remind me my childhood when all the food was quality. Recommended market!
Best point about the markets: everything there is much cheaper than anywhere else!

Tooting market is a great place to do your fruit and veg shopping. Along Tooting High Street are stalls burgeoning with colourful fruit and veg selling all your usual things plus exotic Asian specialties. Prices are definitely cheaper than your local Tesco too! While you are here I would recommend popping into one of the many great and reasonably priced curry houses which line this road.

Tooting Market is a great place to buy fresh fruit, cheap clothes with great quality and even get your hair and nails done! The market harbours a welcoming and buzzing vibe whilst shopping. There's also a sweetcorn stand outside the entrance, selling sweet, fresh, hot corn in a pot for a reasonable price. Also, there's a Chinese Takeaway stand beside it selling hot, delicious Chinese food. It's a great place to shop and I'd happily return to buy my fruit and veg on a regular basis!
