Check the paperwork thoroughly refuse anything that has 'been changed' or altered. 2 separate invoices in 2 departments with 2 different salesmen and numbers didn't add up (on first invoice bed was priced £699, £799 was put on invoice then 7 was changed to a 6). It transpired that the second salesman Dave had massaged the figures by discounting the bed so that he could add the £100 'discounted' to the second invoice (his sale). This was after I had left the store as he had 'helpfully' suggested posting out the documentation after the finance stuff was sorted.
When I went back to query the documentation 'Dave' was visibly nervous and 'twitchy' hovering around while I spoke to the first salesman and the General Manager. Situation was very satisfactorily resolved by the General Manager, £100 refunded and a full and frank apology. It was very evident that Dave was in hot water and that he was going to get a roasting after I left. I cannot fault the other salesman or the General Manager who were extremely annoyed at the situation and I would have no hestiation dealing with either of them in the future. Dave Murray on the other hand
Thomson's has now moved to the outskirts of Dunfermline - next to the retail park to the north eat of the town. The new store is much lighter and airier than the old one. It is on two levels and has a cafe area for customers.
We visited between christmas and new year looking to buy certain furniture. The salesman was very convincing about their prices being the best. However we decided to look around and visited a competitor nearby. I am glad that we did as we found the same furniture on offer at almost five hundred pounds cheaper. A lesson here to always look around. Apart from that i have bought several items from Thomsons and have always found the service to be very good - especially the carpet department.
I believe that thomsons which was once a family store has now been taken over by another local much larger department store which is a shame really as it just means that there is less chance of being able to find something different in the are
Thomsons offers a wide selection of furniture, from dining to bedroom to living room. The showroom is beautifully presented and all the top ranges are for sale. This is quality furniture which will cost you a pretty penny. But the quality is there and these items are made to last. Thomsons also sell carpets and provide a measuring service as standard. The salespeople are helpful and informative, and whilst they are certainly persuasive they are in no way pushy, and it is down to the individual to decide to make a purchase. A range of payment options is available. By far the best time to buy is the Boxing day sale in my opinion!
