    Love it,love it,love it.
The BEST Theatre in the world. Well.nearly.
Always such a great range of productions to choose from; a lovely easy atmosphere ; a great coffee bar to waste hours in at any time and the kind of community focus that is rare in this part of the world. Have a hunch the brilliant leadership in Adrian Vinken should take much credit.
All in all we're really proud of our theatre!

An excellent town centre venue for all kinds of theatrical events. The main theatre generally offers a range of plays and musicals with the smaller 'studio' theatre (The Drum) presenting more challenging and experimental work. Youth theatre events and musical concerts involving local groups and schools form an important part of the theatre's community involvement. There's an excellent (if rather expensive) cafe and bar and you can be added to the mailing list for future events. Audio description is available for some productions to help visually impaired patrons and there is an audio loop for those with hearing difficulties.

The theatre royal in plymouth provides a really nice relaxing enviornment, hosting quite a few really good shows including the Nut Cracker and a pantomine every year. The only down fall i feel is it needs more promotion and upgradde - as it looks a little dated from the outside. overall it is a brilliant setting.Very central location means it is accesible for alot of people.

as atheatre, pretty good and The Drum is a smaller theater around the back. Both are very nice. the coffe bar is expensive but quite nice and the foyer/coffe bar seating area is excellent. Where they fall down is that they have redesigned the seats in the main theatre, presumably to get more in. they are now extremely claustrophobic, with high backs and closer together. I, admittedly, am not small but previously no problem. now, if anyone tries to get past, it is nearly impossible to get two people if one or the other is bigger than Kate Moss. Now, if we cannot book seats on the end of the row, we do not go. Theatre - good, seating - awful!

Totally inadequate seating in foyer. Gallery seats more uncomfortable than Ryanair. Fire hazard in gallery is unbelievable as there is no middle aisle so it is a death trap.Disabled facilities pathetic to gallery. Lift takes you to level 2 but then there are flights of stairs to the seats. Ushers have no idea about the performance. Don't waste your money.

Main auditorium is not big enough. Did they run out of money. Been to see some good stuff of all kinds over the last twenty odd years but it has the strong wiff of a far provincial municipal institution with the dead hand of phillistine councillors with their soulless hands on the collars of management.
