    The White Lion at Wheatacre has been Recently taken over (October 2011) by Tim and Koi and having invested much time and effort into making some superb changes, the pub now specialises in Thai Cuisine which is a must for anyone to try! Dont wrry if Thai food is a little too much for your pallet, there is still an extensive English Menu available to choose from. The log fire is as warm as the welcome you will receive when you visit, whether thats using the pubs own Bed and Breakfast, or the huge Caravan and Camping area provided to the rear of the pub with Proper Toilet and wash room blocks and full electric hook up for those that need it.

    We had a warm welcome to a cold pub. Although the fire was soon lit and started to warm up. The menu looked appetising so we decided to stay for a meal. Good selection on the menu with the addition of a specials board. I was undecided on the starter so I thought I would let the manageresss recommend for me (usually works well). The choice was Humous with olives and salad. But when this arrived guess what there was no olives. The reply to my question of "where are the olives" was "we have run out". The rest of the food was ok but what a disappointment for a recommendation of a starter.

    Another case I'm afraid of a good start but original standards not consistently sustained. When the revamped village pub was re-opened we went on a fairly regular basis and had some great meals. Good food and service and good selection of wines plus real ale in the bar. More recently I guess as a result of the recession there appears to have been some cost cutting going on which has resulted in less choice on wines and ales and perhaps more importantly a more inconsistent quality in the food. For example last time we were there I ordered the steak, medium rare, it came slightly overdone and quite gristly but edible. I asked the waitress to let the chef know. I did not get a response from the chef, simply the waitress telling me they were sorry it was tough but they had now run out of steak. Previous visit I ordered lamb shank, was beautiful. So may be a case of pot-luck. When its good its good.
    Will try again but a few other people have told us that they had similar experience recently.
