The Wallace is my local. Simply because it's in a convenient location for my friends and I to meet after work. And it's a great pub, with a great atmosphere and reasonable, bordering on offensively cheap drink prices.
It's £6 at the weekend for one of those obscene fishbowls that students like me favour. It's also £8.99 for a bottle of Prosecco which in my eyes is incredibly cheap and got me incredibly drunk. So drunk, in fact, that I was dancing to Gangnam Style in the middle of the pub at half ten on a Saturday night.
So, if you're out and about in Paisley, get into the Wallace. There's also a karaoke/disco on a Saturday night aswell that is worth a shout!
There's new staff at the Wallace...A grumpy looking young woman who doesn't make any effort to acknowledge the customers as she's clearing your table...when she finally gets around to clearing the table.
I love The Wallace and all the other staff, but this new girl has dampened my opinion slightly. Bah!
While the Wallace is not a night-time watering hole of mine, working in the area has led me to catch a quick bite or a couple of courses here on several occasions.
I'm a fan of the £2.99 menu, which among other things, includes a baked potato with cheese and beans (that old dieter's staple!), and fish and chips. Imagine a world where 2 dinners and a round of drinks could very well come in at under a tenner - OK, so they have to be cheap drinks, but at the Wallace, it's not just an impossible dream!
Their main menu is worth a look too, with all your standard Smith and Jones fare, including a "2 mains for £6 and some pence" deal. Said deal only covers one meal that caters for non-carniverous beasts, but it's a passable spicy tomato pasta which, although not the most exciting dish you'll ever eat, has a cheeky wee kick to it, and comes with 2 decent chunks of garlic bread.
As for clientele, during the afternoon and early evening the pub welcomes everyday folk of all ages, and is kid-friendly.
The most impressive thing about this place for me is the staff - I have found them to be exceptionally friendly, chipper and banterous each and every time I've visited. They can't seem to do enough for you, and any menu mix-ups or random requests are dealt with quickly, efficiently and with a smile. Certainly not something you could say about every place in the locale, and thus, all the more credit to them!
Nothing fancy about it, but if it's a cheap feed you need, you could do worse than the Wallace...
Been to this place a few times mainly because of its value for money, wide selection of food and drinks on offer, highly reccomend a hot chocolate. Staff arent the best dressed or smiliest of characters but average standard given. Only down side to this pub is the fact you need to go upstairs to use the toilet more convienient on same level as pub.
Pretty centrally located pub which makes it handy for starting out at the beginning of the night or getting a taxi home.Nice modern interior with comfy couches.Drink is pretty cheap which means this place gets pretty busy on a weekend night and can take a wee while to get served because of this.Been for food a few times in here and wasn't very impressed, although they do good deals on the food I waited ages and when igot my food it was pretty horrible and cold.
good for a night out or pre club drinks good prices great atmosphere and big comfy couches to sink in to the food is good and theres always a 2 for 1 kind of thing on would recommend to anyone.
drinks are cheap but meals all pretty poor, you hear for lots of complaints, over all its a nice place to drink but because the drink is cheap you do get a few "funny ones " in during the day.
