The Tremenheere is a bog-standard JD Wetherspoon's pub in the heart of Penzance on the coast of Cornwall. Décor and atmosphere are the same as in most other Spoons around the country (there are some more stylish ones), and the selection of drinks is predictably stupendous. It is one very large, rather darkly lit room with a small outside seating area to the front of the building (no great views there). Essentially, if you need a cheap fix on a late evening, this is the place to go to; the prices for liquor are the most competitive in Penzance.

The aspect where all Spoons truly excel is the range of rotating guest real ales on hand-pump, and The Tremenheere is no different.

The menu offers the usual Spoon selection, with a "club day" (chicken, fish, steak, sunday roast) with specially priced dishes on any given day of the week. The food is generally decent, if again streamlined. Cheap, too.

Not one of the greatest Spoons, then, but thoroughly acceptable. Expect it to get very busy on weekend nights.

So I usually love wetherspoons as my local and most frequently visited place back home but this one in Penzance sucks.
I have sat out the front for an hour having a couple of beers with the wife and my 2 mutts and we fancied food.
I went inside to ask if I could maybe sit in the smoking shelter with the dogs if it started to rain and the guy stopped pulling my pint and said dogs aren't allowed on the premises. Tool, I've been on the premises for at least an hour with them and no one said anything.
Shows how much attention they pay to their pub. Probably why the bar man pointed me upstairs to the toilets (I'm touching cloth here btw) when I walk up the 20 steps and down the corridor it's "out of order please use disabled downstairs"
Then I queue and have people banging the door while I'm trying to poop.
This is one jd wetherspoons that's letting the team down.

This is a big Wetherspoon's towards the top of Market Jew street. This means the usual furnishing, prices and drinks selection that we know and love/hate.

Now Wetherspoon's always have a few 'characters', who seem to be attracted by the cheap drink on offer. I am not sure if it because this is the only Spoon's for miles. But there seem to be a higher proportion of such 'eccentrics' here, particularly worrying was the fella who randomly interrupted our conversation with some barely distinguishable nonsense. Snippets you could hear involved being made a scapegoat, doing time and something about children. Really REALLY did not want to know more so we all just ignored him and waited for him to go away. but with none of the charm and a slightly sinister edge.

The staff tolerate such 'personalities' with a friendly disposition.

Has TVs for major sporting events, which is usually not the case for Spoons.

Standard Wetherspoons stuff, has got a great deal better since I was served raw gammon 2 years by a terrifyingly rude battle axe. Has the atmosphere of a homeless hostel later morning to early evening as many of the town drunks descend on the place to consume the £2 a pint cider. Not bad in the evening if you like Wetherspoons.

A typical Wetherspoons pub in many ways, and what you would expect from such an establishment. It is located in the town centre, literally on the main drag, so fairly popular. You can usually get a seat at lunchtime if you wish to eat. The menu is typical Wetherspoon, lots of choices, lots of offers, well priced, decent portions, decent quality and clean plates! Evenings (especially weekends) prove more difficult to sit down. There is a quiet smoking area to the rear (away from the main street). The toilets are a fair walk, especially from the bar, but all in all, clean, tidy, spacious and typical.
