The Tap Room is basically the hot spot of St Ives; growing up here there was very little around other than old man pubs/old lady tea rooms and nothing much for the younger generation. Then the Tap Room came along and changed it all.

Now the wine bar cum restaurant is always full to the rafters with a combination of mummy's with prams, students skiving from school, students returning from university and grasping at city life in the middle of a town, and lads/ladies on 'big nights out.' Everyone is comfortable here. There's an outside seating area, a range of indoor seating, and a good food selection which ranges from Mexican quesadillas to American burgers. On my last visit I happily tucked away a chorizo & cheese quesadilla which, despite being a bit drippy due to the oil of the sausage, was tasty and filled me up for the afternoon. Service can be a bit lacking due to the somewhat tight-knit community of St Ives but this hits the younger generation more than anyone else.

The centre of St Ives both geographically and socially.

In a wilderness of traditional pubs clashing with undesirable underage club-dwellings, The Tap Room of St Ives provides shelter for the classier, trendier beverage-seeker. With a modern interior and vibrant, intelligent atmosphere, this is without doubt the place to go. Visitors to the town will find it pleasantly situated by the ancient and picturesque bridge, and with lovely lunches also to be come upon, The Tap Room satisfies all good tastes.

From the business

The Taproom is a café bar for anyone, young and not so young, who enjoys good company, a relaxed atmosphere and bright and friendly service. Children are welcome with an accompanying adult, but only until 9:00pm and obviously no alcohol is permitted to under 18's.

Whilst our name is traditional, the bar has a contemporary design with a light and airy feel. The building is air-conditioned throughout, and although the interior is smoking free, there is a courtyard garden which is covered and heated for those wishing to smoke.

So lazy Sundays, wind down Thursdays or hair down Saturdays - whatever your mood and whatever the occasion, The Taproom provides the perfect environment to catch up over a coffee, party with friends or share a platter and a bottle of wine.
