Awesome neighborhood bar. Great traditional atmosphere with 2 fireplaces, beautiful terrace, large bar and plenty of seating if you get there early enough. Very relaxed atmosphere full of locals reading their sunday papers or stopping in for a midday beer while walking their dogs. The service was friendly and food was clean, turned-up-a-notch pub food. We will definitely be back and am just thankful its a short walk away
To note, they claim to have a fab bloody mary which i tried and enjoyed but it is quite a bit sweeter than a traditional bloody mary so be prepared to step outside the box!
I have always mocked Richard Curtis/Hugh Grant films for portraying the UK in a way that doesn't exist but The Scarsdale Tavern showed that such a place does exist.
Situated just off High Street Kensington in a leafy side street, The Scarsdale Tavern is the ideal place to spend a warm summers evening. The food is worth having nachos are great and the steak sandwich and just over £10 is the size of a small country. The only downside was the crick in my neck from watching more than 2 hours of USA v Ghana on the elevated TV.
On my first visit, I was drinking a half pint of Butcombe out front when right before my eyes a red Ferrari and a black Lexus SUV collided to a cacophonous crunch. The entire flower-filled patio was struck silent.
I came again to the Scarsdale to watch the World Cup action and sampled widely of their menu: nachos, a cheeseburger, a half pint of organic honey dew ale, a pitcher of Pimm's (shared with others, of course!)
The nachos were surprisingly well done. I also really enjoyed the rustic potato wedges that accompanied the cheeseburger.
Were it on my side of London, the Scarsdale would be in contention to be my local. Alas, it's too far away for me to become regular with it.

Scarsdale is brilliant.
We popped in for a group lunch of beers and burgers from the bar menu (they have a separate restaurant but didn't have space for 8).
Best burger I've had in a while, wonderful nachos and a lovely terrace out the front. The staff were a little bit drippy but the location and atmosphere makes up for it. Gorgeous part of town and the patio out the front takes advantage of it.
The only downer is they need to invest in some proper outside furniture, since the tables and chairs we used were of the tiny and rickety variety.
Best pub in the area, and I would love to spend a sunny, boozy weekday afternoon there while everyone else is toiling away at the office.
I la-la-loved this place! My parents and I went almost every night while I was in London for either drinks or dinner. They have great selection for beer, wine and have a full bar. The food was fantastic!
I started with a mixed greens salad, and for dinner I had an amazing duck confit. It still is one of the best that I've had.
Next time I visit I'm going to bring friends so we (I) can enjoy "going out" properly. I would have loved to grab one of the outside patio tables. By the time we would get there they would always be gone. :-(
My only real grip (which can happen anywhere) was one of the mornings I went for a run there was remnants of one individuals over intoxication all over the sidewalk. That was extremely unsightly - I definitely lost my appetite.
I've spent far too much time and money in this pub over the years, but hey - I enjoyed it. Lovely local - great atmosphere, no music and a log fire in the winter.
Their bloody marys are to die for and their sunday lunch is fantastic - book though as it's very popular.
The Scarsdale is a great little pub hidden in a residential area just off Kensington High Street. Trees and shrubs and a wood/white-brick interior + open fire lend a countrified feel to the place, and while I haven't tried their food, I've heard it's pretty decent. What is decent: a Sunday afternoon, a paper, and a bloody mary (but only if you can get a table).
