The Salon

I was recently in the area for a client meeting. I had been struggling with a pain in my right shoulder due to sleeping funny the night before. I had some time to kill so as I was passing by, I thought I would try a 30 minute neck and shoulder massage.

As I didn't have an appointment, the receptionist was really helpful and said that if I popped by in 15 minutes they could fit me in.

When I came back, the beautician came over and started talking to me. Lovely lady, she's been working in beauty for years so she really knows her stuff.

Although the massage itself didn't completely get rid of the pain in my shoulder (I think I actually needed a proper sports massage) it did relax me and my muscles.

Even though I'd never been there before she really made me feel at home and almost like I had been a customer for years.

I nabbed a voucher for The Salon a little while ago on Groupon. I'd not passed it, as it's situated on one of the roads running off the main drag of the Jewellery Quarter, but it has a large sign outside so is easy to identify.

I opted to have a neck and shoulder massage, and it was lovely and painful all at once. The lady told me she was surprised at how painful I was finding it - but that it might have something to do with 'a buildup of crystals' in my arms. I have no idea what this means, and partially put it down to some kind of hippy stuff, though the salon itself feels quite upmarket when you're inside and not at all hippyish.

Maybe I do have crystals?!
