Really nice little pub in the centre of Wimborne. They have a real ale selection, nice old fashioned atmosphere, and even a little beer garden tucked away at the back.
This place is normally pretty busy on a Friday or Saturday night, and maybe even a little 'edgy' for my tastes, but still a very pleasant pub.
Check out this and the cricketeers for the better selection of Wimborne's town centre pubs.
This is very much a 'local' in Wimborne, as well as attracting holiday makers and people who trek n to use some of the specialist shops.
It is rather pleasant with original beams and dark wood. The bar is curved and it's rather nice to see all the bottles behind the bar. The staff are very friendly. Slightly less so are the 'locals'.
Last time we were there, we both had puddins, the sticky toffee. I had it with cream, because I'm like that. And Pimms.
Although not the bestest ever, it was a good sticky pudding. I came away feeling nicely full too.
I think this is just about my favourite pub in Wimborne. It's got a friendly feel and the music suits me and it's not too loud.
Very pleasant frontage too.
The pub to be in the centre of town is often The Sun. They have all the best bands when it comes to festival time. There is a very small beer garden in this medium sized pub. Based over the river on the brdige the views are nice during the light evenings.
It can get very busy in the pub and when it does it gets difficult to manouvre through the narrow walkway through the centre. The bar is more down the centre of the pub rather than at one end which works quite well for the large crowd they attract.
I like visiting the Sun often purely for the good range of cocktails they do that I can't seem to find in many other places in town.
I am not so keen on the car parking available in the pub for the times when I'm not drinking cocktails. The car park is narrow and too small for the crowd they attract,
By day, the Rising sun is a quiet, pleasent and traditional pub near the centre of wimborne, where you can get good food and local ales. by night, 'the sun' is a popular and lively venue, frequented by they younger and the middle aged crowds alike. excellent all-rounder and fair prices.
Never been there during the day so cant comment on the day time. However at night The Sun is very very busy at weekends. They seem to always have a live band or DJ. On Friday nights it is a bit of a singles grave yard. Service is often good and quick.
