We certainly had an excellent experience at The Pink Turban last night and I have to review it before I forget to!
We went to the Pink Turban at the recommendation of our B&B host. My husband and his co-worker were both Indian food virgins and were both a little nervous. The restaurant has a buffet or a la carte option, and we all opted for the buffet. A good choice for the virgins, I think.
First of all, I though there was ample selection for vegetarians. I did have a question about one of the dishes for one of the workers about whether or not something was veg (that particular dish was not). Later, while I was sitting and eating, one of the employees came out from the back with two small dishes of vegetarian sides for me! This was completely unexpected an unnecessary, as I had a full plate, but incredibly appreciated. I enjoyed both dishes he brought out, and my husband enjoyed one as well (too much food at this point and he had to help me finish!).
The dessert table was also overwhelming. I had to stop myself from trying everything, but the few small things I did try were very good.
As we were getting ready to leave, the employees brought us some small candies, and then also offered us complimentary drinks (we declined because at this point we were too full)! I'm pretty sure we only got this super amazing service because we were Americans and they probably knew we would tip well... which we did. The funny thing is that of all of the places we have eaten so far in Scotland, a buffet, where you would normally get no service at all, had the best service!
It's too bad we are towards the end of our trip and have dinner plans for our remaining couple of days, otherwise we would definitely have returned to The Pink Turban.
The chicken tandoori is truly massive and they give you a doggy bag to scoff it later, staff are always welcoming and for the price it's easily the best around mmmmm
I can't believe no-one has reviewed this place yet! it is by far the best Indian buffet I've ever been to (much better than the koh-I-noor in Glasgow) the main let down however is the size of the place. It can get really busy and can be quite annoying going up to the buffet itself as it's quite cramped, but the food itself is amazing 5*.
This is a "Top Class" Indian Restaurant between Wishaw and Newmains in Lanarkshire and is very popular in the Area.
We waited about 10 minutes for a Table, which was quite good, and the Service was excellent. The surrounding are very comfortable, bright and clean. Toilets are as expected in any well-run Establishment.
Myself, wife, daughter & 2 Grand-daughters went for Lunch at about 2 o'clock on a Friday afternoon. We had to wait about 10 minutes for a table as all tables were occupied. I wasn't feeling hungry when we arrived but, because of the aroma from the Kitchen, the Gastric Juices started to flow very quickly.
The Menu here is extensive but the 3 adults and eldest Grand-daughter (11) plumped for the Buffet. Youngest Grand-daughter (7) had Chicken Nuggets, Chips and Salad. This was rounded off with 2 Ice Creams, 1 Cup of Coffee and a Tea. Each of us had a fairly large Soft Drink. Total Bill was just short of £29.00.
Excellent Restaurant, Excellent Service from Excellent Staff, Excellent Prices - Overall ?? Excellent Perhaps !!!
Will definitely call again despite living about 8 miles away.
Well worth the Visit !!!
An excellent Indian buffet with items frequently replenished and fresh food made to order on request. A good family atmosphere and a place all who visit shall enjoy!
the buffet at night is superb with a fantastic choice of starters, mains and desserts, the food is superb.
ive been to many buffet restaurants but this one is definately the best.
ive been during the day for lunch and its still fantastic but not as much choice on the mains and it s only tea ,coffee or ice cream for dessert but food is fantastic and its great value for money.
its the busiest restuarant ive ever been to in my life and cant wait to go back.
pity its in wishaw and not in east kilbride as this is the kind of restuarant east kilbride needs.
not to worry as i have wheels and will travel as its certainly worth the trip
