Since I had such a lovely, peaceful visit last time I returned here for a 6 night stay. Unfortunately my blissful bubble was popped.
I made a request to the hotel that I have either the room I had last time, or another quiet room. Unfortunately this was translated to 'guest wants a room in the basement'.
I did not get the room I was in last time, although the room I was allocated was more spacious and had an extra bed (?) it did not have a desk and chair like the room I stayed in previously, which was perfect for study.
On entry to the room it looked clean on initial inspection but upon opening the cupboard and drawers I found the lovely welcome gift of previous guests' used chewing gum. What lovely guests, and what poor cleaning to miss that!
Nor was it quiet. The guests above me have been consistently loud and inconsiderate late into the night. There have been guests in the garden smoking a lot of the time which blew directly down into the sash window of the room so I had to close it and just live with being hot.
There is a leaking water problem outside the basement garden rooms which has resulted in a thriving mosquito population. I have become an expert mosquito slayer during my stay here! This morning I had one of the staff spraying a hose onto my window which was partially open and made my room wet.
The shower in this room you could barely swing a cat in (elbow knocking shower, great!) and the seal on the door did not do its job.
There has been construction or DIY work going on for the duration of my visit. Kept up late at night by loud guests and awoken early by construction work. I am too tired to do anything further than go to the shop to find food as I have had an average of 5hrs sleep a night. The lights in the garden are on all night which shines into the room, making it a poor place to sleep as the curtains do not block out much light.
I honestly cannot wait to leave now. If I could check out early and get my money back I would. Perhaps this is a nice place to be off-season but if you want a restful break during the summer, this is not the right place. I wear earplugs
