Watched the former Royal Nip being refurbed & had to visit when we saw it had reopened under the new name of Office.
Very clean modern interior, kitted out with leather sofas and a wooden floor! The bar is in the same centralish position.
The joint was jumping when we called in on a Saturday afternoon! The football had been on at Easter Road! Although really busy & noisy, there was a real convivial feel to this new pub on the block! The bar staff were cheery & helpful, prices I would say about average! There was a large tv in one corner showing sports and a fruit machine! There seemed to be the usual selection of crisps and nuts available.
The refurb has not been done on the cheap either! A refreshing change as a lot of Leith bars have reopened after being repainted or after low budget refurbs.
A trip to the loo proved to be very pleasing! The modernisation had extended into here too! Round stainless steel basins with soap & handcream too! The toilet walls were tiled with good quality tiles & the finish was of a high standard!
Just hope they can keep standard up!
As I was explained this used to be a brown bar, but on arrival I was presented with a modern cafe style. Brown leather sofas, beige walls and mirrors on eye level. Bar in the centre. This isn't your usual Leith bar. Modern twist with an old fashioned feel. It has a jukebox, gambling machine, quiz machine and darts on Mondays. It is spacious as not many people outside of Leith visit. Very much a local. Serving food, but with a small kitchen only the soups and rolls fare well. Lacking atmosphere but with the right crowd it doesn't really matter. I enjoyed the evening as I was with my work mates. Would I go back by myself? Probably not. For a good evening with mates and avoiding the crowds this place is suited.
