I had never been to The Millpond under the old management (too young!) but from what I hear it didn't exactly used to be the bee's knees. Its been years since they reopened the canal (Huddersfield) in the centre of Stalybridge but it really does make a visit here that bit more unique.
Nowadays, the Millpond is pretty lively - I don't know who coined 'Stalyvegas' but it can be pretty accurate. Not to imply that its too loutish though, just tongue in cheek considering how traditional this area used to be. One generation just grew up and needed somewhere to let their hair down to a fun DJ at night. With a couple of different floors, its big enough to attract a varied crowd and feel like a proper night out.
Situated on the sides of the Huddersfield canal, the Millpond is a nice place to spend an afternoon or night drink on hot summer nights.
Placed on the outskirts of the busy 'Stalyvegas', this bar looks exceptional and inviting from the outside and even cosier on the inside. With many floors or the balcony to choose from to sit and relax.
In summer, this bar comes alive as it is perfectly placed next to the Splash carnival and is ideal for sitting and watching the concert shows and people participating in games.
Clean and tidy, the Millpond is great for all ages and has great ale from bitter to white wine and drinks for the kids!
