Updated to top stars after seeing 'Evita', starring Marti Pellow, excellent, great production. Then a week later saw 'Ghost', before the show a meal in Ovation (see review) upstairs, Brilliant, show and food. The meal and show was a Hen night, highly recommend as something different than the usual pub crawl.
Updated to 4 star from 5, 'Phantom of the Opera' was good, but must admit I think would be Brills if not seen from the Balcony. Excellent production & cast, missed the facial expression which you would have seen below the Balcony. Know for next visit, no Balcony. However the singing sounded Brills, speaking was not always audible (not a lot of the time).
Went to the opening night of Jekyll & Hyde starring Marti Pellow, really enjoyed the performance. Singing & staging was excellent. However did feel the ending was a bit flat, but it is a dark show. Did not pay for the tickets a friend won them & could not actually go & the seats were in a good place, stalls, row M. First show & first time at the Mayflower A nice size of theatre, very decorative, comfy seating. Just round the corner from the train station & car parking (which cost £3.00, not bad).
Lovely and gorgeous theatre, unfortunatly i dont think they do the little binoculars like they used to when i was younger. Can be quite expensive for tickets, and food and drink there, but overall its lovely to go to.
The Mayflower Theatre is a really nice old theatre. It isn't too far from the train station. They have some great shows on. There isn't car park just outside so you have lots of people just stopping in cars on the side of the road and flinging doors open which isn't good for other people driving past. Inside the theatre it is very nice. I seem to get a good view from wherever I sit but it is better nearer the front. There are spaces for wheelchair users. They sell some drinks, ice cream and sweets at very high prices. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful.
A lovely old theatre in the heart of Southampton, going here is always a really enjoyable experience. Sadly, I dont visit anywhere near often enough as it can be quite expensive. If I wanted a great night out tho, I would not hesitate to chose this place as a first option.
Never been to a bad show. Bit pricey. could do with having prices for kids!
My Family went to watch Les Mesierables here recently. We have watched the London productions probably 5-6 times, and other songs from the shows like 'Beyond the Barricades' maybe a further 6-7 times, so are avid enthusiasts of the show. This production was every bit as good as the London show. It was professionaly played and staged on. The set was magnificant, and we had a memorable evening. The Theatre is well run and although busy in the bars, you can get a drink in the interval. Highly recomended. Ohh and they do have binoculars, certainly on the higher levels anyway.
