Nice pub, friendly staff, especially Vena who always has a kindly smile. Usual mix of beers, wines and spirits, prices reasonable, a great place for evening drinks on the terrace when the sun shines over Marine Lake.
This pub is a tiny little place with indoor seating and three outdoor seating areas. The deck in the back overlooks the water (boats, birds, pretty skyline), the tables in the front give a great view of some beautiful architecture, and the picnic tables on the side actually give a view of both, depending on which table you choose. The pub is immaculate, I mean, so clean that you notice it. The service is good.
The food (sandwiches, (called barm) and tea or whatever brew you are into...I was impressed with how comfortable this pub was. The tea was perfect, which is not always the case in an English pub, and the food was fresh and tasty. And it was ultra clean.
This pub claims to be the smallest pub in Britain which makes it worth a visit for that reason alone! Instantly recognised nestling on the side of the Marine Lake on the Promenade in cream and red they have expanded to outdoor tables overlooking the lake. A great summer destination.
Not sure about the smallest pub in Britain claim. Seems quite large in side and they have as much area outside on a couple of terraces. Not very child friendly as kids are not allowed in the bar or on the terrace overlooking the lake. Not sure why as the terrace would seem perfect. In stead you get to sit outside looking at the road. In fact thinking about it the barmaid wasn't very adult friendly either. I think it must be a local pub for local people. I don't think I will bother again.
