I went here for my birthday meal and boy I was not disappointed!
I had crab cakes for a starter and they were perfect in every way, with a lovely salad on the side with a garlic dressing. Also I had a kir royale (I've been here about 3 times and get one every time I go) and it was just gorgeous.
I decided on the chautuvrion for my steak and had it rare medium rare with garlic and parsley butter, and yes it is the best steak you can get but it was absolutely perfect in every way! I was completely stuffed and had a few glasses of wine by then but I decided to get some ice cream for dessert and I'm so glad I did! I picked 3 scoops of the raspberry pavlova and it was quite literally the best ice cream I have ever tasted.
Presentation here is always fantastic, I'd recommend starting off with one of the Dunham Massey beers or a cider that you can't get anywhere else, my friend had a cider that tasted as good as a French one! Definitely wasn't a cheap meal for 6 of us but there's also an early bird menu option for about 20 pounds or something like that (limited options like you'd expect, but still delicious). The staff are delightful and attentive, if you come here you will not be disappointed!
10/10 basic food but done absoloutley fantastically (is that a word)?

I've been here twice, the first visit was a 4-5 star for the price sadly the second let it down to 2-3.

At its best it was excellent cooking, fantastic pork chop with Café de Paris butter, great service and a massive amount of attention to detail.  Great wine selection and interesting innovative dishes.

We then revisited on a busy night, service was a bit more sporadic, there wasn't the attention given to the dishes compared to our first visit and we did get the feeling they were keen for us to leave to turn the table around.

I'll definitely try it again and sincerely hope that it was just a bad night they were having.

Fat Loaf is located in a really nice, secluded part of Altrincham. The modern interior and soft lighting makes it a superb location to chill out whilst tasting the exquisite cuisine. The cray fish and smoked salmon starter was heaven in a bowl. The Fat Loaf fish pie can only be described as a 'taste sensation' and the ice-cream finished the meal off on a high. This dinning hot spot is well worth a visit! I don't think that this bar/resturant gets the credit it deserves and by some is considered as just a posh bar, but it really does consistently offer a better than average A La Carte menu. It is a great place to dine in with a group of friends as I have done on a few occasions now.

Great restaurant. Child friendly. Excellent and varied menu. Local produce. I go regularly from popping in for coffee to a long meal.

Fat Loaf is a Modern British Restaurant situted in the heart of Sale I have tried Fat Loaf several times but this was our first visit during the week and dined from the special two-course menu at £13.00. The choice was better than we expected and beautifully cooked. The risotto my partner had was exceptional and I just wish I had had the lamb burger, as when a nearby table was served it looked fantastic with the bowl of fat chips. It has decent house wine and for under £40.00 for a midweek night out, exceptional value for money.

I have been the The Fat Loaf twice, each time was disappointing. The menu reads nicely, but each time I have left, not entirely satisfied, the portions are quite small, and the steak was not a good cut of meat or cooked to my requirements. The staff, are friendly and efficient, however they are so attentive that I felt rushed to eat so that they could clear my plate away, therefore I gave up on the very tough and overcooked steak and let them take my plate.  I wouldn't go back.

Quality restaurant. Had the grill deal the other week and the steak and chips was excellent. Never had a bad meal here.
