I like chambers as a meeting point but I must say I find it a bit lacking in atmosphere and indeed it feels a bit claustraphobic.
The staff are very friendly though.
Don't expect to find any beer other then British.
Low ceilings and couple of seating areas, no loud music and conversation oriented.
I can't believe that The Chambers is ten years old!!! That makes me feel like I am getting old!
The Chambers is a fantastic pub and coffee shop owned by Chris Smith. He started the business as a pub ten years ago and the opened the coffee shop a few years later in the shop above the pub.
The coffee shop offers a wide range of hot and cold drinks as well as sandwiches, paninis, jacket potatoes and soup during the day time, ecept for sunday. They also have a lovely rangke of cakes!! It is always busy as it is a very popular place for a yummy lunch. They have lots of comfy seating areas and have a few tables outside for the smokers.
Downstairs in the pub they offer a selection of specialist beers and have regular beer festivals. They also sell hot food in the evenings which is all vety nice. I love the chilli corn on the cobs and the meat balls. The bar staff are all really friendly and will always offer advice on drinks. The puddings are extremly nice too.
There is no pool table any more which is a shame as it was always fun to have a few games. I think they took it away as it took up too much room when they are really busy on the weekends.
Worth mentioning as a real ale fan that Chambers has been in the CAMRA guide for the past 6 years and the beer is well kept. they also have a film club which meets on an adhoc basis and shows cult films - check out their website for updates
What a busy little pub downstairs and a lovely busy coffee ship upstairs.
With its good food, frequent beer festivals and entertainment in the evenings this pub is a major attraction in Folkestone. With a wide range of customers it appears to be popular with everyone!
good local pub with a beer cellar feel to it, 2 bars serving some exclusive rich full bodied ales on draft, 3-4 separate seating areas w/enough privacy to have good conversation.
Sat in Folkestone town centre only 2 minutes from our bus station & 7 minutes walk from Folkestone Central train station (on the London St Pancras fast link service), The Chambers has featured the CAMRA's Good Beer Guide every year since 2003 & was CAMRA regional pub of the year for 2008!
Boasting a fine reputation for it's food, we offer Mexican & special seasonal / regional menus weekly.
A large & naturally lit basement bar with an original art -deco style ground floor Coffee Shop & roastery attached, which sells bags of our house roasted coffee blend as beans or ground!
Music is a great weekly feature with LIVE music every Thurs & superb Dj's every Fri.
Mainly featuring Blues & Folk driven artistes for our live music, we often have respected international players, as well as some of the best original acoustic musicians that the UK has to offer. Please see our Facebook page - www.facebook.com/thechambers - for all our event listings!!
Established in 1998.
Formerly wine cellars for a 1900's established town delicatessen, The Chambers has been providing the towns folk of Folkestone with something a little left of field for getting on for fifteen years now.
Fabulous ales & fine Germanic beers are always available on our bar & fresh beautifully prepared food is our hallmark!
Finding a more relaxed yet attentive bar & restaurant environment is going to prove tough to do but don't take our word for it, why not come see for yourself?
Chris was born & bred in Folkestone & has been running bars here for twenty five years now . . . . he has a real feel for the town & it's food, drink & entertainment needs!
