I've been to this Carvery on a number of times and I've never been disappointed.I always opt for the Beef and the quality is outstanding, melt in your mouth stuff, nice Yorkshires and a good selection of veg and condiments.
Service is always good and I can't recommend this place high enough
We were told by the intelligent staff, that the only difference between a small meal and a regular meal, was one meat instead of three meats. However, when we got to the chef, he gave us a ridiculously small plate. This made it over-priced from the get go.
The queue was 8 people long and it took 25 minutes to get a plate.
I'm sure the veg was the frozen crap you get from the bottom of the freezers at Asda.
There was only one gravy option, whereas other Carvery's I've been too offer a variety of flavours, including vegetarian.
The Turkey was fresh out of the oven, and clearly it was bloody. When the chef cut into it, the juices didn't run clear, but he continued. When he served it to my girlfriend, she raised on eyebrow but move along (she is shy). At the table, she looked closer, and the areas near bone and cartilage were pink. And you'll never guess what happened next...this is the best bit....the intelligent staff said "It's ok to have blood in it. It's like medium rare".
The staff noticed were were annoyed because no one was coming near our table and we couldn't make eye contact. There were no staff in sight for 15 minutes, so I had to get up from my table and find someone to demand a refund.
We got a refund and then the intelligent staff said, "Oh yeah, I hate it when there's blood in my food.".
Fail. Fail on all fronts....just fail.
Carverys have got to be the greatest bristish invention - no arguement! Now although you are never going to ever get better than your mum's, a week will never draw it's self to a satifactory conclusion until you have had that roast chicken/lam/pork/beef/turkey/etc dished up on your plate with all the trimmings. Now it can be quite an arduous task cooking your own so why not finish off a day's shopping at Cribbs with a carvery from ~The Carvery Company?!
Be warned that the prices vary very strangely dependent on day, time, season, blah blah blah which can be a costly mistake but the food is good - still nowhere near as good as mum's though!!!
