The head. What a great place. Definately the spot to be if you are in Camden. A great nightlife. Live music, bands, DJ on certain nights.
The drinks are cheap, not way too overpriced. 2-3 Quid a pint! The vibe here is awesome.. and if you have been to Camden or live in Camden, you will know that it is the birthplace of Punk. You get alot of mixed crowds in here, and definately alot of travelers/backpackers. Throughout all the times i've been here, I always see new people of different backgrounds. It's a great place to socialize with other Europeans.
The place isn't hard to find at all. It's located in between Mornington Crescent and Camden Town. It's on the corner and is visible from the High street.
Definately recremmend you stop by after a day's shopping from the market!
Of all the Camden pubs, this is my back-up should anything not go as planned. A fairly large sized pub located on the opposite end of Camden High street (back towards Mornington Crescent, NOT by the Stables, thankfully), Camden Head tends to be less crowded than those by the Locke even on Saturday and Friday nights.
Cooler than a regular pub, it has loads of couches, a pool table and knick-knacks that set it apart yet still retains the laid-back atmosphere of just beinga friendly bar. The bar staff is fairly efficient and I've always found a plae to sit with friends within 5 minutes of walking in. There's even been filming taking place in there once, though we don't know why, only that there was filming and we were in the background. Keep your eyes peeled, I may be the next big thing.
Even bigger plus: last time in, we found £20 on the floor. Win for us!
**Not to be confused with The Camden Head in Camden Passage near Angel**
I can't believe that a Yelper hasn't already found this place....stumbled onto this place as I was walking Camden High Street looking for a cool place to grab a pint on a Wednesday eve. This place has a cool vibe--it is a good combo of pub meets bar. It has the nostalgic feel of an English pub, but has cool red lighting fixtures, a pool table, and a jukebox that had rockin' good tunes (always a a good sign wihen I am Shazam-ing in a pub). Looked over at a plate of food while ordering my beer--chips looked a bit lame--American style little skinny fries, so I wouldn't go for the "gastropub" features, but a great place to pop in for a pint.
