I visited this place last year on the recommendation of my ex-girlfriend and i can honestly say that i am pleased i went.
Though the food prices are slightly above the norm, you get value for money which the service and the hearty portions they serve.
The Burtle is set in a quaint little village outside of Bridgwater and one of my biggest regrets is that without transport of my own it is very unlikely that i will be able to go back again.
5 stars? I'd give it 6 if i could.
I first came across this pub whilst searching for a campsite for my first trip to Glastonbury. As a site for exploring 'Glasto' its a little out of the way, but to be honest I don't care about that now.
The campsite is actually an orchard, with some lovely apple trees and quiet shady areas. When I was there I met an author who had been caravaning on the site for over twelve months!!
The site is very reasonably priced and is open all year round. You are given an access code to type into the pub's back door keypad, to allow access to the well-kept and clean toilet and shower facilities 24/7. The pub serves a range of good home-cooked meals and has a cider that, whilst being very tasty, can strip the sobriety from you faster than neat vodka!
This campsite is one of the country's great little treasures. Quiet, homely and close enough to civilisation to make it a viable proposition for visiting Glastonbury, Wookey Hole, Weston-super-Mare, Bridgwater and Wells etc.
I am told that there have been some recent modifications, not least being the availability of Wifi for those campers who have missed the point of being there.
I would heartily recommend this site/pub to anyone, be they seasoned campers or, like me, raw beginners!
Burtle Inn is a good country pub in the village of Burtle. It has a nice pub garden and the pub is cosy and old-fashioned.
The Burtle Inn serve really good pub food, I like their Ploughmans Lunches, they have a carvery on Sunday, at £11 a head this is bit more pricey than other pubs in the area.
The Burtle Inn is on the road to Glastonbury and is a good stop-off point on a summer cycle ride in the country.
Large selection of food, have been quite a few times, always had really good meals.
This is one of the best Inn's in the village's food is fab, drink are good.Thay are also very helpful and clean. This is a must go to Inn.keep up the good work from buzzard heights B&B.
This is a real old fashioned pub with flagstone floors but with the most excellent food, the sunday carvery has a huge variety, I have tried nearly everything on the menu and each time it has been superb and large portions. There are real fires and even a post office at the bar, there is no accomodation but you can camp in the grounds. The ale is exceptional and once in there you really dont want to leave (you can get a carry out).
