After enjoying a lovely walk around Buttermere what could be better than a quick half in a village pub before heading home? A nice hearty meal, that what! We only had a hot bagette when we went in today, but it was very filling and the specials on the menu board look amazing. The prices for the sandwiches was about £5, but a main dish was about £10.
They also serve the famous Black Sheep ale, which is worth a tipple even if you are not normally an ale drinking.
This was the second time that I have visited this pub/hotel. A decent selection of local beers but pricey compared to the other local hostelry!!!
The food was reasonable in terms of quality but pretentious and overpriced. Customer service was not up to scratch in my view - barstaff chose to ignore me at the bar and clear tables.
I have camped in the village on my own and this pub is most welcoming. The food is good and the ale excellent. Not too much if you want a good walk the next day!
