It's proabaly a while since the last bricklayer frequented this pub, but the Bricklayers Arms is still the closest you get to a real pub in an area that is slowly but surely becoming trendy and gentrified.
They offer a good selection of beers, but what really sets it apart is the incredibly friendly and efficient staff. They kept smiling even when kicking out the last hangers-on on a Saturday night.
Bit of a shame that the upstairs bar has been turned into a bit of a character-less restaurant. But hey, sounds like the Thai food is worth it. Still plenty of space downstairs, so good alround.
Had after work drinks in here a couple of times. I quite like it. The beer isn't as cheap as you might expect from a small place like this, but I guess it is in ultra cool shoreditch.
Good thing is that the jukebox is always going, so there usually is a good atmopshere. A busy bar, but great staff to handle it.
Not so great after 9.30. no drinks allowed outside, and they got a bit millitant the last time I was there about punters standing around outside, even though their drinks were left dutifully on the tables inside
They're doing good Thai food there! I normally go for the Jungle curry or the Phad Thai -good portions at reasonable prices. Friendly staff, good vibe for drinks!
