This Pub is has always been a place to visit over the years. It used to have a Childrens Play area (about 10-12 yrs ago). Then I used to bring the kids here to let off steam and have a sly pint.
Kids are all grown up, and the Play area has gone.
Its a very old building in Hanham. Lots of thick walls and two welcoming fireplaces. So nice in the winter to warm upto.
I have seen a couple of good singers here over the years. Although I must confess. It can be hard to see them in the end room. But they have been good.
More recently we visited the place after a long walk, on a Sunday lunchtime. There was a new menu. Which looked good and the prices were attractive too.
The picture of the chocolate mud cake looked good. So we ordered these. Only to find the biggest mud cake I had ever seen come and sit in front of me. WOW and it was good.
I was so impressed, that we brought some friends here for one evening during the week, and again we had a lovelly meal and drinks.
(They too were impressed with the mud cake)
Its a nice pub. Staff are friendly and is on the main drag as you go into Hanham.
My only fault would be to update the furniture. But then, you may spoil the oldy worldy feel to it.
I liked the Chamrock on my Guiness too.
