These guys know what they're doing. The selection of beer here comes from across the world, with an uncanny knack of picking out the very best of beer to be found near and far. There are bottles of excellent local brews Sambrook Wandle and Junction, German alcohol-free beer (the best on the market, in my opinion) Erdinger Alkohol Frei and, (voice aquiver) two bottles from star Danish brewery Mikkeller. Plus a good selection of beer from Belgium, England, Austria, the Czech Republic and more (much of which I didn't recognise), all at reasonable prices.
The shop itself is worth a mention too: wood panels everywhere, with the beer bottles presented neatly on shelves. Throw in the friendly service and slow trumpet jazz sountrack playing softly in the background and it's very difficult to leave the shop without buying something. Which considering the quality of the produce on offer here, is no bad thing.
This place is like a fantasy land for beer! They have so many different kinds of beer and each label tells you which county it's from to smell, taste and what food would go with it. They are all neatly organized on the shelves. I noticed they even have some organic beer :). We tried Delirium Nocturnum from Belgium and the UK pear cider for today, but they are just a few of so many things to choose from!
The Beer Boutique is a fantastic bottle shop! By chance I stayed across the street from the shop during vacation in London. I wound up going into the shop everyday of my vacation! The staff, including Mark (owner), Jonathan (manager), and Kevin (staff member), were all incredibly knowledgeable and gracious. Living in the US, I'm not able to get many of the UK (and greater European) beers available at the Beer Boutique. The staff was able to recommend the best ones to try to give me a true taste of the British beer experience. I was traveling with two friends who are less knowledgeable about beer but they loved trying new ones and listening to the hours of beer knowledge the staff had to offer. The shop is very unpretentious... you can just walk in and ask for help. All of the staff is more than willing to help anyone, regardless of level of beer knowledge. They keep a good selection of beers in the refrigerator for immediate consumption. The tables offer a nice place to sit and enjoy a beer. Plus, the prices are significantly cheaper than if you'd buy the same beer at a pub. Every detail of the shop has been curated. The shop does have large windows but they are covered with a UV-protective film so there's no risk of skunking beer. The lights also filter UV rays, for the same purpose. They have themed events on a regular basis which sound like a blast (American beers on the 4th of July, IPA Day, etc.). I couldn't have had a better experience with the Beer Boutique and I think my highest praise is the fact that I went back every day of my vacation!
