Hottest day of the year (so far) and the place is so busy. We waited 30 minutes for lunch, but super busy. Waiting staff were so professional and attentive should be congratulated of the efforts. Queues out the door for drinks and people who hadn't reserved were disappointed by their own lack of planning. Beautiful day to stop off for lunch before walking into Bath.

My husband and I shared the lamb kofta appetiser followed by the fillet steak and 1/2 lobster tail. The lamb kofta had some nice spices to it making it very flavourful, and the sweet and chilli sauce was the perfect compliment to it. I liked the flavour of the grill on the steak and the cut was tender as expected. It was cooked perfectly to medium rare as requested. The lobster was good, though nothing stood out with it. The dish came with a large portobello mushroom and delicious potatoes. We finished the meal with a chocolate brownie that had a soft, almost oozy centre. It was a tad too sweet for my taste, but the quality chocolate and texture made it an outstanding brownie for me.

As it's Mother's Day and I hate cooking, I treated my Mum to Sunday lunch at the Bathampton Mill. I love this place, it's menu is exciting and innovative, nothing run of the mill or boring here. We shared the baked Camembert with rustic bread and onion marmalade for starters and it was fabulously tasty. The main course of lamb shank with mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables with red wine jus was equally delicious and now I'm sat here with a very satisfied belly! Service was prompt, efficient and friendly.

It's positioned right on the river with great views and extensive outdoor seating as this is a very popular summer venue. However, the menu is worth checking out at any time of the year.

Loses a star for slow bar service at busy times. Ok bad bit over! A perfect setting right on the river, where boats from the city centre stop and drop off.

Amazing garden and a high end finished bar and restaurant. Food is very good and always comes out quickly and well presented. Not cheap with mains starting around £10, but they also do big pizzas from around £8

It does get really packed on a sunny day and the bar service is grindingly slow due to not enough staff and sheer wright of numbers. But get there early in the evening and get the £12.50 two courses before 7pm.

The most scenic spot in Bath!
