We are new to St Albans and tried The Albany for the first time on Saturday and had a fabulous meal. The menu is exciting with lots of choice for every palette. Portions are large but not too large. The scallops starter and chateaubriand main were cooked beautifully. We had three courses, plenty of wine and a really great evening for only £35 each.
Only caution would be that it's quite dated inside. I wouldn't recommend it if you want a venue with wow-factor decor. It feels a little stuck in a 1970s rut, but it's clean and comfy and if you are not bothered by first impressions it's great.
We enjoyed another excellent meal at The Albany. The manager Rapha and head chef Faisal were both very accommodating with last minute requests for a birthday surprise (45mins before arriving at restaurant). Pleasant service from the waiting staff Oliver and his female colleague. Great service from a good restaurant team as normal - but they do show appreciation for repeat custom. Will definitely be going back again soon.
Visited here with 8 work colleagues. Found the place to be quite simple in style. Slightly bland in a way. However, the food was superb. Starter portions are a good size with plenty of flavour whilst light. Main dishes are diverse and well presented. The wine list very acceptable too. The
Really uncomfortable seats in this restaurant, food is ok, service is a bit slow, quite expensive as well, not the best restaurant in St Albans.
Very good especially for St. Albans.
